Most tasters rate this a very good Fiji, with the main quibble being how much the Cognac finish takes over. Expect the classic Fiji rubber-and-polish note over tropical fruit — banana, mango, grapefruit — plus spice, licorice and roasty tannins. A few call it "less balanced" on the palate and a touch thin, and several note it drinks surprisingly easy for 65.6%.

The 2007 vintage is dominated by tropical fruits, which gallantly play to their strengths; they are joined by light sweetness of pastry and sugar as well as floral aromas. All of this plays out well on the palate, and the alcohol is well integrated. The fruit melange is very appealing and offers complexity, light tobacco aromas, a bit of tart spiciness and toasted aromas from the barrel. Overall, however, the spectrum remains a bit too straightforward, the present counterpoints to the herbal-fruity freshness and thus the other aromatic influences that could provide additional excitement are missing. However, this remains almost the only flaw in this rum, which basically knows how to convince absolutely.

31.12.2022 Our yearly New Year party where we try new rums mixed with the personal bests. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, fresh, light wood, burnt, fruity, banana, faint marzipan, spice, light chocolate, Palate Intense, spicy, light wood, faint smoke, fruits, banana, light medicinal, faint chocolate, light floral, faint tar, faint marzipan. Finish Long and warm, light wood, faint smoke, fruits, banana, medium spicy, faint floral, iodine. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while before it releases all of its secrets.

A beastly, aromatic Fiji rum. The nose offers a beautiful basket of fruit (banana, pineapple, mango, apple, lime, grapefruit) that fills the nostrils with greed and gains in intensity as time goes by. Slightly smoky oak is accompanied by sweet spices (vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, salty notes) and medicinal notes tending towards the empyreumatic (varnish, polish, rubber). An expressive nose with a broad, balanced aromatic spectrum. The attack on the palate is powerful, with 65.6% more lively and warm than on the nose. Despite this, it's the fruit perceived on the nose that stands out on the palate, notably tart apple and exotic fruit. Spices (cinnamon, licorice) assist the profile before giving way to more smoky, phenolic notes (tar, rubber, polish, varnish). The profile remains quite subtle despite its power, which makes it all the more appealing. The finish is very long, warm, smoky, mineral and rubbery. There's a fresh, dry breath on the palate, accompanied by fruit, oak and slightly warmer spices, correlating with the impression on the finish. Plantation is a fine cuvée that stands out for its delicacy and gourmandise, which contrast wonderfully with its assertive power.

For fidji typical strong rubber and varnish/polish nose. Together with bitter orange, green pepper, milk chocolate and licorice, plus intense roasted aromas on the finish and generally lots of bitter notes and tannins, which could be due to the cognac finish. However, the cognac finish also rounds it off and makes it somewhat more harmonious.

The color - not so dark, but as often- for me it’s honey, nothing special here. The nose- polish and fruity tones, spices, little of woody and rubber or polish. The taste- warm, intense power of alcohol, but not harsh. Its complex and changing during the time when the rum rest in glass.. I agree with any fruit - banana, apples or apricot etc. hint of wood and floral and of course medicine. Long and warm finish, smoky, mineral or astringent..better to say peppery. Personal note: The taste reminds me Guayana style of rums.

A cracking nose, light banana, vanilla, and some lighter citrus with grapefruit. The mouth is less balanced but opens well, reminiscent of a St Lucia pot still, with green pepper and sweeter pastry and mango notes. The finish is the weakest part, some more citrus, lemon peel alongside milk chocolate. An easy to drink rum given the ABV and worth trying. Not quite an exceptional Fiji rum but heading that way, a little too thin in the mouth but otherwise really well put together
