Distinctly coherent Agricole profile: wood, heavy sweetness of dried fruit, chocolate and nougat, plus subtle citrus notes as well as finely tared spicy notes, floral aromas and smokiness. Quite consistent from nose to finish, but very harmonious thanks to this very straightforwardness.

Overall it’s too alcoholic in my opinion which makes it hard to sort out aromas and flavors. This rum, Isautier l'Élise, from Reunion is a column distilled pure cane juice based rum distilled in 2006. It’s aged for 15 years in a single French ex-Cognac cask in the distillery’s cellar and thereafter bottled in just 580 bottles. The name pays homage to one of the last sailing ships used by the Isautier house, named l'Élise.

Antoinette: holzig mit vanille, etwas bitter, süß im abgang. nicht sonderlich komplex. Ein holziger easy sipper. Der Abgang ist mittellang und das Beste an dem Rum. Apollonie: Weicher, auch süß, mit einem pflanzlich und mit einem Kräutereinschlag. Insgesamt komplexer, lecker. Elise: Dieser hat die bislang intensivste Nase, welche sich am Gaumen fortsetzt. Hier kommen deutlich die dunklen und roten Früchte mehr zum Vorschein, als bei den vorher probierten. Auch lecker. Aventurier: das ist ja mal gar nichts. erinnert eher an einen jungen foursquare. schlecht eingebundener Alkohol. aventurier bdf: fast 80 % abv. klingt vielversprechend, zeigt sich hier aber vergleichsweise zahm und langweilig. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden, ein Aromenspektakel bleibt aber leider aus. Hätte hier mehr erwartet. Audacieux bdf: Schon besser, die 73 % abv sind sehr gut integriert, am Gaumen ölig, warm, holzig mit dunklen Früchten. Der Abgang enttäuscht. Das Tasting war eine Ernüchterung, vllt. habe ich aber auch einfach viel zu hohe Erwartungen, wenn ich Isautier sehe. Meine Favoriten bleiben mot großem Abstand die Abfüllungen von Velier und Swell.

A nice surprise that shows the rise of Isautier on the premium rum scene. This Single Cask agricole reveals very singular notes of perfume and flowers (violets) before letting the greediness of spices and fruits and the elegance of wood express themselves. In the mouth, we are first on a floral, vegetal and earthy register, with tobacco, sugar cane and sap, before letting the fruits, spices and wood express themselves. The whole is very round and balanced, the alcohol not being felt. The finish is very long and keeps the aromatic register, with some greedy notes of chocolate. A homogeneous and original rum, which shows a nice depth and deserves more attention.

#4013 First off, the price to quality is very good on this release. You really get a lot for your money. Fresh and fruity with nice spices and roasted wood in really nice balance. The palate is lightly dry with some really nice floral and caramel notes on top of the other flavours. The empty glass is really nice and reveals some chocolate and earthy notes.

2nd try following the rum fest. I think the nose is superb (fruity, floral, fresh). Unfortunately, the palate is less pleasantly earthy and bitter. Too bad...

#1769 Whisky Watcher Tasting 11-04-2026 - Rate 6.9 In the club we had an all agricole tasting earlier this year. We are apparently not old enough to be drinking agricole. We did not like most of it. There were however one Isautier Amon and it was decent like this one. That’s all I can say 😉

Nosing - i can smell tones of caramel, vanilla, fruits (mango or apricots). The taste is going from fruits to woods..some tones are also earthy and flowery notes. From my personal opinion - I really like the profile agricole profile - a lot of tastes to discover - it’s complex and the taste develops with the time in the glass.
