Yellow tropical fruit and fresh sugarcane up front, with a gluey ester edge and more oak than two years should give it. Cane-juice rum from Ghana, bottled at a punchy 66.5%. A few tasters catch honey, herbs and a menthol coolness; others get an "Obstler" fruit-brandy note that either charms or grates. Young but surprisingly complex — and a couple compare it to Mhoba.

Surprisingly complex, intense and mild after only 2 years in the barrel and with such a high alcohol content. Exciting! Judging by the nose, I would have liked a little more fruit on the palate...

Franconian Tasting Gang on 10.05.2024 Freshly uncorked by Jarek. As nice as I once found the profile of Ghana, these are generally very similar. It always reminds me strongly of a fruit schnapps. I think that all the bottlings simply need a lot more time in the cask to develop a little more.

Yeah, this rum is quite okay. Good nose in my opinion, very fruity, dried and tropical fruits are recognizable. We have sugarcane in nose and palate, otherwise still spicy and toasty on the palate :)

Super fruity and spicy on the nose. I also imagine slight ester notes. On the palate then spicy fruity with a feeling of honey. Herbs and menthol or mint. The finish continues, the alcohol is strong but very well integrated. Really a very great piece especially considering the aging time!

I have always found rum from Ghana to be a success. This one is also convincing. Very fruity, especially yellow fruits come through here. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not well integrated and the rum has a particularly sharp finish.

Young Ghana rum that doesn't quite pick me up. The fruit liqueur note is definitely there and bothers me. On the nose, it may be slightly more pleasing than the Honey Batcher, but all in all it's still very similar to the Ghana profile I've known so far ... which I don't really like.

So far I knew only a few Ghana bottlings, which then also went more in the direction of Florales taste experience. This one surprises with less nose, but with great taste. Especially it becomes nutty :-)

#5580 22.08.2025 Relaxing with a set of samples while watching Gotham Knights. Nose Fresh, light wood, sugarcane, fruits, light tannins, light nutts, light olive, spice. Palate Oily, fresh, light wood, faint smoke, sugarcane, fruits, light herbal, light citrus, light caramel. Finish Medium long, oily, light citrus, light caramel, sugarcane, faint tomato. Empty glass Sugarcane, citrus, light tomato, light licorice, light herbal.

Reminds me of a génépi, especially at the start. A cough syrup side but not as unpleasant. Not to my taste... Too bad, I was looking forward to discovering a new origin. Far from Mhoba.

Assuming it is from the same distillery as the CDI ghana and a simmilar distillate, then the wood brought in a lot. It tamed the punchy fruit and introduced spicy wood notes. But i kinda liked that one better

Quite closed nose, vanilla, caramel and some yellow fruits. The palate is lively, on exotic fruits, fresh herbs then vanilla with a little sweetness. The alcohol is really not well integrated.
