Give this one 20 minutes to an hour in the glass and it opens into mango, pineapple and vergorene fruit, glue and polish, then oak, coffee and cinnamon. Best sipped neat — at 68.4% the alcohol is mostly well integrated, though a few tasters wished it landed 5% lower. Several also note the palate stays a touch thin for the strength.

Very nice and intense MMW profile. The partly tropical ageing clearly shows its positive impact and delivers fruity notes and ample complexity. The high ABV works very well and provides plenty of intensity.

Nice nose, pleasantly fruity with some peach and spices. On the palate, the alcohol is a bit more present. Overall okay and a nice MMW, but nothing I'd absolutely need a whole bottle of.

31.01.2026 Retasting at the Warehouse Tasting at Nobilis. ------------ The ABV in this rum is really well integrated and once rested all the flavours are pouring out of the glass. Considering the age I'd say the price tag is pretty good.

At the beginning, I am met by a considerable cloud of alcohol on the nose, which was the sign to leave the rum to air for 20 minutes. On the second try, tropical fruit basket, fermented fruit, fruit candy, caramel, old barrel. Also tropical fruits on the palate, especially passion fruit, plus malty, roasted notes and coffee. It warms the throat really well 😉With a drop of water, some of the beautiful tropical fruits are lost on the nose without other notes being added. In this respect, it probably makes sense to leave it at the high ABV.

A very impressive nose, varied with changing aromas! The longer it lingers, the more complex!On the palate, the rum spreads heavy and thick! A pleasant spiciness spreads, followed by toasty wood! Slightly tropical flavors join in!The finish is long, woody and warm!If the alcohol was better integrated, it would have earned a few points more!

And another good Clarendon. Tropical fruits, especially pineapple, on the nose, also esters and glue. On the palate a pleasant sweetness, especially (dark) chocolate, but also tropical fruits, spice, coffee and wood.

The perfect rum for a cold winter day: strong, warm and complex. The high ABV works perfectly. It needs to sit a while for all the flavours to come out.

It took about an hour for this rum to open up. On the nose: Esters, light glue and polish notes mixed with spices. It almost has like fermented note in the background. Little bit of sweetness from marzipan. Taste: Heavy, tropical fruits and spicy. Woody notes. Roasted coffee. Mouthfeel is somewhat thick. Grated cinnamon. Finish:Woody notes, light marzipan note. Roasted. Dry. Light coffee note. Medium finish. It think its solid rum, but doesn't really offer complexity or rich notes that would put the overall score higher.

Really powerful alcohol! Not exciting, unbalanced towards alcohol, slight smoke, yellow fruit, wood, slight spice, Nice on the nose, difficult to drink, long aftertaste, intense and precise. Lacks harmony.

Also a nice bottling. On the nose, the glue is present first, reminds me of the good old yellow Uhu tube from elementary school. Then the tropical fruits slowly come to the fore. If you give it a little time, a pleasant scent of polish emerges. In the mouth it is fruity with wood and a bit heavy. Here too the alcohol is well integrated. Very good Clarendon.

This is a full-bodied MMW that, despite its relatively high alcohol content, offers a pleasant tasting experience. The alcohol is noticeable but well integrated. On the nose, there’s a burst of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple, along with anise and ester notes that add a distinct character. The palate brings a mix of tropical sweetness, black pepper, and a hint of citrus, creating an intense and flavorful profile. The finish is medium-long, with mint, caramel, and a touch of gingerbread that rounds it off nicely. Overall, I find this rum very robust but also very satisfying.

Good. Very powerful. Beautiful esters, good balance. A hint of bitterness on the finish, lacks a bit of indulgence. Not my favorite Clarendon but it is good.

Alcohol initially very dominant and sharp on the nose. Definitely needs its time in the glass to release other aromas like tropical fruits, peach and a hint of ester. However, the alcohol remains present on the palate as well.

Despite a very high alcohol content, it is very well integrated. Usual Clarendon profile, but the palate lacks body and substance. A shame to present a rum with such a high strength when the palate doesn't follow. A regret. I preferred the Compagnie des Indes Clarendon 8 years.
