Most tasters land on "solid Jamaican, not spectacular" — a Clarendon/Monymusk single cask that shows well on the nose and gets sharper on the palate. Expect glue and light ester, a fruit basket of apple, peach and cherry, then baking spices and clear oak. At 59.5% it comes in peppery and warm; several note the alcohol isn't fully tucked away. 24.10.2020 Lovely tasting arranged by one of my suppliers of rum. Notes Light to medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, faint wood, ester, fruity, cherry, light glue, light floral, faint grass. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, ester, fruity, light anise, light floral, cherry. Finish Long and spicy, light wood, light cherry, light orange, ester, light grass, faint chocolate.

Nose reminds me of cheap peach iced tea with grain spirit... Alcohol is absolutely not well integrated, the whole thing becomes rather unpleasantly sour, bitter and woody towards the end. A harsh disappointment.

Tasted in a bar and not completely sober anymore 😂 Decent Monymusk but nothing special. Maybe the bottle has been open for a while. A bit better on the nose than on the palate.

Clarendon comparison CDI, RA, TRC The best, most complex and harmonious of the three. The fruit basket is very pleasant with apple, peach, lychee and banana. More glue and polish notes than in the RA, plus very fine spicy notes with cookie dough, baked apple, winter spices and distinct oak spice. Pleasantly sweet and oily on the palate. Fine fruit notes and finely spiced oak notes. Also butterscotch, cookie dough, winter spices, round and tasty. For me the clear favorite of the 3 single casks. Despite everything, continentally matured Monymusk just have a hard time with me and rarely end up in the glass.

Nice esters and good taste. I like it a lot

A fresh, citrusy nose with some artificial notes. There are esters and iodine and a slight, not so pleasant hint of ammonia. When that fades, the pleasant sour sweetness of mandarin and the spice of vanilla and wood come through. Hmm, very bitter, salty and a bit too peppery and sharp on the palate. I struggle to identify the fruit, maybe kumquat. But the bitter tone is too dominant. Bitter almond. It stays like that on the finish, salty, bitter, woody with some tea and bitter almond. There are definitely better JMMs.

Jamaica without Hampden tasting: not the worst bottling today. Many different fruits, whereby the different aromas generally differ strongly from nose to finish - thus light but complex.

Today again Jamaica, but this time Monymusk! On the nose you quickly notice the Jamaican origin. Spicy fruity with light ester notes. On the tongue again clearly the spicy, somewhat woody and fruity. The alcohol could be better integrated in my opinion. Basically a nice solid rum though.

Nase: Ein wenig Lack, dann Backgewürz. Zimt, Anis und Ester sind zu vernehmen Gaumen: Scharfer Auftritt, der sich eine Weile hält. Pfeffrige und bittere Noten überwiegen mit ein wenig Holz. Abgang: lang und warm sowie würzig. Fazit: Von einem 16jährigen Jamaikaner hätte ich mir mehr Milde bzw. Frucht versprochen. Dann beim nächsten mal😉
