Underdog July 2023: Actually quite nice, but also kind of interchangeable. A bit much neutral alcohol in the finish. I feel little of the age.

Here is a very nice rum project. I personally like it very much and at a reasonable price. The aroma and nose reveal chocolate. Also some notes of sugar and vanilla. Not too strong in terms of alcohol.
Review by Timo Groeger
Also a fine rum. To my taste, I can taste chocolate and caramel. This rum is definitely very good to drink. The finish is also relatively short for 57%, the palate is delighted with this taste experience.

Underdog project the first So for the price a real blast. Taste does not have to cost much. For me an insider tip. Sure there are rum that tastes better and more diverse, but then at what price. For the first selection made, no disappointment. See him as an easy sipper. Is certainly something for newcomers who want to discover the world of rum. I remember as a beginner rum.

On the nose there's an immediate coconut note backed up by walnut shells, oak and vanilla. Further nosing brings out floral notes with a little milk chocolate. There's a musky, asphalt note in the background. Sounds odd, is nice. The palate is delightfully sweet and very easy to drink. Think wood soaked in honey infused with vanilla. It's pretty divine. There's also some raisins and very dark fudge, the old ones that used to be in Rose's selection boxes. The finish keeps things as smooth sailing as the palate. A little tannic, not much, just enough to tickle to tounge. Perhaps a touch of smoke. Overall, this is superb. Get a bottle if you can. I shall try to get another myself. Batch 1 - Bottle 180 of 360

Beautiful dark, typical notes of the Spanish style on the nose and palate. A little alcoholic at first, but this quickly disappears after a little time in the glass. Afterwards, an intense, lasting taste remains on the tongue.

Class PLV! The nose first a little alcohol-heavy, then warm, soft vanilla. On the tongue initially a little bitter, almost pungent. But then comes along very floral and mineral on the palate, makes really fun!

I wasn‘t too impressed at first, but a few drops of water did wonders for this pour. After adding water some of the harsher woody notes gave way to a rounder, oily sweetness. This is a great value for the price.

Sophisticated column still rum in the Spanish style - do not compare to brasher rums. I had to come back to this and taste fresh as I originally tried this after a few bolder rums which blasted my palate. The nose is shy and rather alcoholic, subtle notes of vanilla and chocolate. On the palate, we have more chocolate and sweetness, faint floral notes and honey. The flavours are on the whole subdued but the mouthfeel is surprisingly good, medium oilyness reminding me of a good bourbon. The finish is tannic, tingling, with notes of dark chocolate and coconut, flowers, inviting the next sip. At 57% it is dangerously drinkable and very moreish.

A rather simple creamy profile with a lot of sweetness. Only in the finish the rum becomes a little drier. Lots of vanilla and confectionery. Nice coconut on the nose. Overall easy sipping. Alcohol very well integrated. Not quite my profile.

A really nice rum. Not the most complex but what it does it does really well. Really sweet and the alcohol is pretty well integrated meaning it goes down really well.
