La Favorite – 180th harvest – Cuvée May – 56% To celebrate its 180th harvest campaign, La Favorite released an exceptional collection of 4 limited cuvées of 5000 bottles each, representing the months from March to June. Each is a white AOC rum, slowly reduced to 56%, the result of a blend of plots and cane varieties. All presented in an elegant black bottle, hand-waxed — a real premium touch (around €50). 🔸 Nose: expressive, fresh, herbal, fruity notes, licorice, pepper 🔸 Palate: soft despite 56%, menthol freshness, spices, citrus, very gourmand 🔸 Finish: short but tasty 💛 Favorite is the June version, even more gourmand! 📍 Zoom on La Favorite Founded in 1842, owned by the Dormoy family since 1905 Located in Lamentin, still family-run and independent Artisanal production: hand-cut cane, 85% autonomy Distillation on 2 creole columns (copper & stainless steel) Still steam-powered with a machine dating from 1906!

#4771 10.07.2024 Sampling a bit at home. Nose Fresh, fruity, sugarcane, light chocolate, faint smoke, light mint, light floral. Palate Fresh, round, sugarcane, fruity, light floral, naturally sweet, light citrus, light chocolate, medium spicy. Finish Medium to long, light smoke, light mint, light floral, fruity, medium spicy. The empty glass has nice licorice and light herbs.

A pleasant nose of fresh cane slightly sweetened with a touch of turmeric. On the palate, you find cane, lime, and pepper. Finish on iodine and lime lingering in the mouth. A white rum that could have been very nice if it were less faded, lots of flavors but too little marked.
