Loving long ponds, I decided to purchase a white. I expected more marzipan, which I love in its aged counterpart, however it is a remarkable white. Complex, strong in the solvent part, but never overdone. Olive and esters on the nose. In the mouth solvents and a fleeting roasted/smoky note. On the finish pineapple and lychee, medium-long duration.Whites for me must have a different evaluation than amber.

Well, it's not really my cup of tea on its own. Certainly not too bad as a mixer. Edit: had it again as a mixer for a CubaLibre in a glass. It cuts a better figure here. But even there it can't really convince me

White TECA-off SBS origins vs. for CB! Well… I guess they just come from the same tank. Can’t really find any significant difference here 😁 Side-by-side versus the SBS TECC, this one is significantly more fruity. I guess as is true for Hampden‘s marks, also for LP not only the ester level but also the composition of esters seems to change significantly between the TECA -> TECC marks.

Blind tasting within the Community Tasting Long Pond TECA/TECC: Very floral and flowery, but also lots of esters, glue, some fruit, but rather unripe or citrus fruits. Probably makes a good mixer.

Night tasting of the TECC/TECA Community Tastings by Mirco. Today: the three unaged ones. As expected with the two Marks, the rums are not entirely dissimilar and all the expected markers are there 😉 Nose: Rum 1 most pastry/bacon, rum 2 more fruity, rum 3 most fermented. Favortite: Rum 1, then 3 then 2 Palate: Rum 1 the warmest and thickest, rum 2 more stone fruit, rum 3 very dry. For my taste, 1> 2 > 3 applies here Overall, 1 is clearly the best for me, then 3 and 2 at the end - but without much distance. All delicious. Resolution: Rum1 = rx13569 SBS Origins TECA Rum 2 = rx13378 SBS Origins TECC Rum 3 = rx12601 Warehouse#1 TECA

A good idea to bottle the well-known ester monsters in "raw form". Compared to the aged TECA, the esters and marzipan dominate here, while the aged colleague adds finer fruit and caramel tones.Nose: intense, fresh and funky. Esters and solvents with glue, immediately followed by fierce marzipan and pineapple. A bit of lime comes in. Clear announcement, but that's all it needs.Palate: intense and warm, almost soft. A bit dry and slightly bitter at first, but then a wave of esters and pineapple marzipan comes in. Gets really sweet with hints of raspberry and banana. Out the back more chamomile and anise. In the finish, however, the pineapple marzipan dominates again.Der makes fun. I like, matured better. Definitely a good mixer.

The first unaged rum I actually like neat. On the nose primarily solvents, the esters lean more towards savory. On the palate, however, a surprising sweetness and fruity-spicy.

High ester bomb from Long Pond. I've become a fan of trying many rums unaged as well. It's amazing what wood and aging can influence. For me absolutely enjoyable neat, but I also look forward to testing it in various cocktails.

A nice Long Pond from S.B.S. On the nose lots of esters, solvents, nail polish, and pineapple. On the palate very functional, again lots of esters, also pineapple and lacquer are recognizable.

Of course, never comes to the matured TECA ran, but also costs much less (just under 60.- CHF). For me, the PLV is definitely right and if he tastes me pure no longer just gives good cocktails.

Mirco's Blind-Tasting TECA/TECC No.1: An unaged Long Pond of the milder and pleasant kind. The alcohol is quite well integrated and not very high. Esters and solvents are clearly noticeable. Also light tropical fruits are recognizable. The aroma play continues on the palate. The finish is more on the ester side. It should be a good mixer.

Nail polish and pineapple dominate on the nose. Some raspberry and lime, grassy freshness and subtle funk. Compared to the WPH on the nose, an absolute lightweight. Pineapple and Agricole vibes then on the palate. Quite light, a bit sharp-edged, fruity and medium funk level. Great Daiquiri, but overall a bit pale for the price.

Really awesome stuff. As usual, first sniffed the bottle - fruit salad. In the glass the smell then shifts into glue paradise, with lots of estery fruits but also grassy-plant notes, which are probably typical for unaged product. The palate builds excellently on the nose, really a great drop for people who like it funky.

I wasn't really expecting this! On the nose, there's almost nothing but glue, solvents and maybe a little lime, but then it's a slap in the face with a little more fruit, esters that heat up strongly, and a finish that's a little on the grape skin, perhaps, and lasts a long time. Simple, a little too straightforward, but effective, at €35 a bottle in Germany...

This is a very nice ester bomb to start the weekend. Not a DOK but still a pretty good high ester rum. Thinking about the price tag you get a lot here. Fresh as well as intense with ester and fruits. There is a roasted note on the palate i can't put my finger on, but it enhances the overall profile in my mind.

Fruity nose, glue, fermented fruits. Wild and funky. Surprisingly much apple on the palate, a bit of cinnamon, plus a lot of glue. Unusual, but not bad. Solid high ester Long Pond, probably works well as a mixer.

The nose is packed with fruity esters. Gluey, and with some sweet flowers in the background. Maybe a touch metallic. The palate is just as ester filled as the nose. A real burst of juicy fruit. There's also some varished wood and warming spice. The finish loses the fruit and becomes smoky and very dry. It's a bit of a turn at the end that keeps you on your toes. It's very good. One for the funky jamacian rum fans. I also tried it in a daiquiri and it was superb.

Wonderful ester and fruit aromas on the nose that fill the room after pouring. The initial intensity of 57% on the palate soon changes to a multi-layered taste that's fun to explore. Hi-ester funk party for surprisingly little money.

Opened this one today to mix some Mai Tai’s to conclude 2025. It’s exactly what I would expect from a mixer: smooth, enough power and a smoky finish. Enough funk to shine through in any cocktail. Nice!

25/10/2026: Long Pond TECC/TECA Community tasting. The first unaged Long Pond TECA from the tasting, and I'm pleasantly surprised. It's quite funky, heavy on the olives, solvents and esters. Enjoyable to sip neat, but only one dram is enough for me.

Finally getting around to opening this from 1423 Noble Spirits. The TECA is a heavy marque with 1200 - 1300 esters. Tasting notes: glue, brioche, green olives, nail polish, pineapple, almonds All in all this is a sold Jamaican rum that’s worth picking up, especially at the price point!
