Despite the "Intense" on the label, this Reunion white is light and easygoing — ripe banana up front, then citrus, floral and green vegetal notes. Several tasters found it flat and almost watery sipped neat, and the alcohol pokes through more than you'd expect at 41%. Short trip to Reunion September 2024 What is a must on Reunion? Savanna rum, of course, although this one is not top class. Fresh and fruity on the nose and palate, with citrus fruits in particular coming to the fore. On the palate, however, it is a little too alcoholic for me.

Bought me bottle of this molasses based and way too bland rum in Spain. To be honest the worst Savanna rum I’ve ever tasted. Drinking it neat is almost as drinking water, so I had to use it in drinks instead. The nose is weak, bland and a little fruity with scents of banana. At the palate it’s still weak and bland with some fruity notes of banana, plum and pineapple. The finish is short.

#4201 This is a rum made for mixers in my mind. Not that it cat be sipped, but for that I would have loved a higher ABV. Light profile with fruit and floral notes.

A flattering nose, with just the right ripe banana, indulgent. A rather bland and simplistic palate, the alcohol isn't well integrated. An almost nonexistent finish. For me, a bad rum, a boring rum, a "Charette" rum but worse. I prefer many supermarket rums between 20 and 35 euros (Bologne, Neisson blanc 55°, père labat 59° when you can find them).

Rum from Savanna's permanent range, this unaged traditional rum does pretty well. The nose is fruity, with notes of banana, citrus, yellow and dried fruits. Then come fresher, vegetal notes resting on slightly alcoholic solvent aromas. It's simple but not without charm. The palate follows the same tones, the attack is light and leans towards the floral and vegetal side which brings freshness and balances a slightly alcoholic side. The fruits express themselves well, especially lemon, banana, and mango. The whole is soft, subtle but finds its little character. The finish is short, thin and light but retains a nice fruitiness on the aftertaste. A sensation of spices gives a little boost at the very end in the mouth. It may not be a great rum, but the aromas hold up pretty well for the stated strength, it's a nice surprise. A rum that will surely stand out in mixology.

From the club tasting with rum enthusiast Falk Redlich. This one came right after the Savanna Creol 52 Agricole. On the nose and palate, total banana overkill. Overripe and fresh bananas, with some green notes in between. The alcohol is a bit sharp. Maybe good in a cocktail.

Now that's more interesting: we find traces of the métis but add a licorice or harlequin candy side, which is intriguing. A nice framework of fruits completes the picture, it's still light at 41 but well, rather positively surprised.

Well, this rum is quite bland, plain, nothing really enjoyable while sipping neat. I can imagine some nice cocktail creations with it. On the nose its quite salty, mineral. Taste has some fruits in it, but thats all.

SAVANNA – TRADITIONNEL INTENSE BLANC – 41.3% I love Savanna. Really a lot. But that doesn't mean you have to like everything! 😂 And this Traditionnel Intense at 41.3% definitely won't go down in the annals of Rhum Mirror. On paper: a traditional white from Savanna, made from molasses... why not! In the glass? Rather light, quite simple and above all... not exactly exciting to drink. When you know the little bombs this Réunion distillery is capable of producing, it's hard to get enthusiastic. 🍹 On the other hand, in a Mojito or a Dark’n’Stormy, it does the job! And that's ultimately how it ended its career at home. 😂 ⚰️ No tears for this one! Savanna, see you very soon... but with something a bit more serious in the glass.
