A very nice release with nice wood power without it being too dominant. Very good ABV integration and I like the fruityness in the overall profile. The finish is extremely long and the empty glass has wonderful flavours after a while.

Loads of molasses, plus caramel, vanilla sugar, oak wood, milk coffee, an extremely sweet and easy-drinking profile. The alcohol is barely present, but it lacks a bit of complexity. Pleasant and very accessible Demerara representative.

Delivers all you would expect and get in the other 2001 SWRs. Very nice. Marginal points decrease only for the finish, which is a bit thinner than in other bottlings.

Awesome nose, warm, malty, sweet, fat. The palate is hardly inferior - with a big BUT: Only after ultra-long breathing (at least an hour) it really unfolds its flavors! As if the liquid must first thicken, quite funny. Who is impatient will experience a disappointment, then the rum seems strangely flat. But those who show patience will be rewarded. Fine thing! 👍

Premier community meeting RumX à Acht. Un nez ample, très Guyana, fût de chêne, vieux bois verni, chocolat noir et des fruits secs, beaucoup de fruits secs. Beaucoup de bois en première bouche mais les fruits secs ne sont pas loin. Moins complexe qu’au nez et un peu vulgaire, ce rhum ne tient pas toutes ses promesses. La finale est plutôt longue, sur le bois avec un côté pâtissier et gourmand que je n’avais pas vraiment senti avant. Le verre vide est absolument délicieux avec un mélange d’arômes tout à fait équilibré.

A very elegant and balanced Skeldon that comes close to the El Dorado SWR. A good load of vanilla, caramel, chocolate and fruit, well complemented by wood and coffee. That's what I really like! Excellent!

On aeration, chocolate and vegetal molasses with black tea arise. 9:On the palate, the attack is delicious with charred wood notes like caramelized Demerara sugar, roasted nuts, mocha, dark chocolate and leather, spicy with allspice, dried fruits like raisins and prunes, some orange peel, dark molasses with tobacco and black tea. 8,7:The finish is long, dry&tannic with dark molasses, black tea, charred wood notes, smoky, oaky, spicy and dried fruits.

A Diamond typical of Skeldon's style, in which we find the big markers on the nose: a dark olfactory profile of chocolate, coffee, leather, spices (licorice, cinnamon, chili, vanilla, clove), wood and coffee, with dried fruits (prune, raisin) and exotic fruits (banana) rounding out the profile with a dose of freshness. A fairly heavy rum, which coats the nostrils with a lovely roundness. The palate is full and flavorful. Dark notes dominate: chocolate, coffee/mocha, walnuts, leather, but also roasted aromas, wood and spices amplify the palate's drinkability. Prunes, raisins, caramel, tobacco and black tea add finesse and complexity. A full-bodied rum, with perfectly integrated alcohol. The finish is long, dark and elegant. Slight bitterness blends well with leather, black tea and aromatic herbs. The fruity and spicy side is very refined, with a certain heaviness that coats the tongue and sticks to the palate. A deep, gourmet Diamond, with finesse and generosity.

In comparison tasting with Nobilis and Sbs. Very pronounced hazelnut/almond note with vanilla tones. Reminds me of Christmas market aromas. Nice long finish with roasted flavors. Very drinkable rum with perfectly integrated alcohol.

Wow, oh ja dies ist ei. Richtiger top Rum, sehr lecker. Schöner Guyana, jedenfalls übelst röstig, viel Kffee und viel Mokka haben wir hier. Außerdem noch dunkle Schokolade, aber auch Vanille, Leder und Holz.

This rum needed quite some time to open up, close to an hour if im not mistaken. On the nose: Woody, caramel, vanilla and some dried fruits as a dominant notes. Little bit of cocoa,chocolate and coffee notes. Good notes, but as I said, this rum takes long time to open up. Taste: dried fruits first, then you get coffee, leather, light vanilla, light caramel. The abv is integrated nicely and mouthfeel is smooth, but l feel that this could use a little bit higher abv and intensity. Finish: Woody, mocha, light nutty notes. Leather notes. Dry. Very long finish with light mocha notes. Long aging is very present, but it doesn't overtake the rum. Easy, smooth sipper that could have had little more intensity and complexity and thats why it doesnt quite reach in my best SWR mark rum category.

Tasted during a short spontaneous sample swap with DomM. A very nice and powerful 2001. Basically has everything you could hope for. Personally, however, I like TheRumCask's a little better.

First of all, a big thank you to Manuel for the sample. I was very happy about it. :) I really like the rum. Caramel, chocolate, wood and slight hints of red fruit in the background. My only criticism is that I detect a slightly alcoholic note. But maybe that would have disappeared after a while. I was just a little too impatient again :D

I can easily spend half an hour or more on the smell alone and never get bored. Then there is the brilliant mouthfeel and the wonderful variety of flavors - from fruit to spices to the finest oak aromas - in the taste, so that I almost don't want to swallow this rum, even if the finish is no less beautiful. A brilliant spirit!

Very tasty Skeldon! Caramel, orange peel, dark chocolate, mocha, raisin, some tobacco and strongly brewed black tea with bitter orange peel. Aromatically round, strong and mild and generally extremely well balanced. Great bottling, it just lacks a little depth and complexity, the finish is also a little short.

A very typical Guyana rum. Very strong barrel influences which are also reflected in the color. In the nose and in the finish great influences of the barrel as well as spices and tropical fruits. Slightly sweetish finish.

Superb. Beautiful notes of chocolate, vanilla, leather, fruit, and a very nice integration of the alcohol. This juice is magnificent, for Diamond lovers like me. The length is more than correct, very long. The smell lingers in the empty glass. I like it a lot, especially as I'd been disappointed with some Nobilis releases, but now I'm reconciled 😍😍

Beautiful complexity, a certain pleasant liveliness. When I tasted it again, the earthiness didn't bother me at all. I find it more diverse and fruity than other Skeldons. The alcohol is also perfectly integrated.

It's a very good rum, very wood forward but nicely balanced. On the nose, it's very woody, but not in an unpleasant or overwhelming way. The caramel and the dark chocolate are coming second, and dried fruits further down. On the palate, it's very intense and thick. Caramel comes out more here, it's still very woody but naciowy balanced. There's no bitterness. Finale is long and sweet.

I liked it more and more in the Skeldon tasting. A good representative of the vintage. Still a little restrained on the nose but nice and warm in the mouth, full-bodied and very mouth-filling. There are light floral notes and essential oils.

The Mark SWR is named after Sir William Ross, founder of the Skeldon Estate! This molasses rum was distilled on a Continuous Blair Still at Diamond in 2001, then aged for 21 years before being bottled in 2022 as a 54.2% BDF in a limited edition of 209 bottles by Nobilis (selected by Salon du Rhum)! The bouquet is delicious and full of vanilla! There's a lovely burnt sugar tart with fruitiness galore (prunes, coconut, banana, raisin, citrus ...). The whole is perfectly balanced and harmonious. On the palate, it's just as pleasant and creamy. There's less fruit (apart from citrus) and more sweet cocoa. And there are notes of roasting and leather! The finish is long and fine, with spices, wood and a hint of raisin. My goodness, this Skeldon is good. Its only problem is that it drinks too easily! But the good news is that I've got a small bottle in the cellar which should be opened soon...

Very drinkable Skeldon, with the typical markers in the nose and on the palate, very tasty and pleasant to drink, ABV very well integrated, the finish is a bit flat for me, which diminishes the overall impression a little, but still a very good level, I like it very much!

Dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Creamy espresso. Nuts. Prunes. Woods (of Ypres). Hints of leather and fruits here and there. Something balsamic in the background. Opulent. Round. Great integration of alchohol. Really a great selection by the Salon du Rhum. To be kept and moderately consumed. Edit: further tastings revealed some almond. After some parallel tastings, slight correction of the rating. 93/100.
