Renegade Pre-Cask Westerhall (Old River) 2019
"An acquired taste for most," as one member puts it — and that's the honest starting point. Unaged cane-juice rum from Grenada, clear in the glass, with raw sugarcane, vegetal cabbage-y notes, nail polish and lime up front. At 50% it's spicy and green, more fresh and mineral than sweet. Several tasters keep it strictly as a mixer.

- Vivid lime & green

07.03.2023 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh, floral, citrus, light mineral, light banana, light vegetal. Palate Fresh, round, light floral, citrus, light mineral, faint smoke, medium dry, faint licorice, light vegetal. Finish Medium to long, fresh, oily, floral, citrus, faint smoke, spice, faint licorice. This is an acquired taste for most and in general I like their rums, though this one is not one of their best.

A tasting from a bungalow in Turkey. From my experience with Renegade, this hits a lower end of a score. In the nose you have no doubt it is based on sugarcane. Some vegetal and acidic hints. In the notes, more sugarcane, a sweetness, hints of glue and a lingering aftertase

On the Rocks: Smells Like Nail Polish and Fresh Vegitation. Very Spicy but tolerable to drink. Mixed Pepsi Very: Smells Like Nail Polish and Fresh Vegitation. Smooth and unique flavour. Mixer Only. 5.5* Mixed. Be careful, it will ruin your palette for the day. It has extremely strong smell and flavour that will overwhelm you.

Mixed on the rocks: smell similar due to dilution. Unique smooth mixer only.
