Bourbon and baking spice hit first, with tropical fruit and a syrupy caramel sweetness sitting behind them. This 14-year Clarendon pot still keeps its Jamaican funk dialed way back — several tasters call it a gentle, almost dessert-like entry to the island's style. The bourbon-cask influence is heavy, and a couple of people find the finish artificial and short.

My sample says bottled for "passievoorwhisky" but al the specifics are the same so it's problable a shared cask. Not a fan of the "politics" of Plantation/Planteray, but I'm gonna try to give this a fair review. Nose: typical Jamaican funk. Balanced for a Clarendon though. They tend to be a bit weirder than this. Actually quite nice. Taste: Pretty sweet for a Jamaican, is this sweetened? Planteray do have the tendency to do that..anyway. Sweet but not unpleasant. The rye cask shines through. Some American Oak. Tropical fruits. Still very balanced. Could be the age. Nothing extremely exciting but very drinkable. Medium finish. Woodbitters in the end. Solid drink.

07.01.2023 relaxing at home with a friend whilst enjoying some samples. Medium dark in colour. Nose Light sweetness, light wood, berries, apple, spice, light honey, banana. Palate Round, light wood, light plum, light caramel, apple, light citrus, spice, berries, lightly sweet. Finish Medium long, lightly sweet, light wood, light honey, light citrus, light caramel.

A good rum, but for me the finish does not really fit! He seems very artificial!

Clearly more pleasing than the Australian from 2009; coherent sweetness, which gives the rum a pleasant sweetness. In addition, Jamaica-typical fruit flavors, which are not too dominant, wood and quite grippy spices - not a spectacular profile, but overall nicely balanced and easy to drink.

A good Clarendon for an introduction to quiet Jamaica. The traditional fruity and fermented side is there, but in the background, behind a more woody and gourmand side (this rum has a strong Bourbon character). All in all, a jamaicain for a relaxed evening out, or to introduce you to Jamaica without scaring you away (but let's hope the other guy will want to try the fermented fruit next time 😆).

I'm liking this one a lot. It starts a bit sweeter than expected. It's fruity and the Jamaican funky style is there but only at the background. Nice 👌

A pleasant aroma with notes of citrus. On the palate find it sweet, syrupy, with notes of caramel with tropical fruit in the background. The finish is medium length, syrupy and soft wood notes. Found this quite enjoyable. Feels almost like a dessert rum.

Fairly easy sipping. Fruity and only a little funky. Not as barrel-driven as I expected from something this aged. Starts astringent and fruity, opens into baking spices and tropical fruit with a light funk. Has a medium length finish that isn’t very complex. Delicious, not worth seeking out.

On the Rocks: On the nose there is a moderate bourbon punch with hints of corn mash. Taste reveals a real punch of spice, oak, bourbon, and mild fruits.
