If you like your rum dark, roasty and coffee-forward, this Colombian single cask lands squarely in that lane. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate, some walnut, a peppery bite and an oily body — one taster caught pipe tobacco and old wood too. The 50% gives it more grip than the standard Dictadors, though several members wished for a touch more punch. Roasty and spanish-style, not fruity.

Really a pretty awesome one, hits my taste perfectly. Very, very roasty, lots of coffee anyway, but also dark chocolate, some nuts and a slight spice. A really delicious Dictador.

Compared to other Dictador rums, this single cask reminds me very much of a travelers rum from Belize. Great and round flavors that make a delicious Spanish rum. The nutty, toasty and brown flavors and spices are dominant, followed by faint fruit. Round and spicy in the mouth at 50%, a little peppery, a few percent more would have been appropriate. Overall a solid rum, although the price is a little high.

Thanks to the somewhat increased alcohol content and the barrel influences somewhat more exciting than the standard bottlings, without really being able to inspire. The aromatic spectrum remains narrowly limited to typical notes of the Spanish style, without setting a particular highlight. Can not really inspire me, unfortunately.

Next cake rum from Dictador, this time with better ABV. In the nose nicely light mocha chocolate, dried fruits, raisins, smoky. On the palate sharp, peppery, nice oily consistency, tastes like chocolate, brown sugar and coffee. Notes of old wood, pipe tobacco. The finish is not so long and also loses intensity but still nice.

07.10.2026 Pretty decent release in my mind. ------ RETASTING ------ 06.02.2023 Another set of Dictador samples for home tasting. Colour Dark to very dark. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint varnish, light nutts, faint chocolate, faint honey, light coffee. Palate Light wood, medium intense, light coffee, spice, light ginger, cherry, light cinnamon, faint orange. Finish Medium long, light wood, faint roasted, dried fruit, faint caramel, spice, light cherry, light chocolate. The extra % in the ABV raises the bar a bit.
