My palate tells me that there are many parallels between an old Dictador and an old Demerara and so I find that I basically really really like the profile of Dictador. On the nose I have pleasant aromas of wood, brown caramel, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, leather, roasted nuts and dried fruits. On the palate, besides a brilliant sweetness, vanilla, wood, caramel, coffee, spices, butterscotch, milk chocolate, dark aromas and roasted nuts are found. The creamy texture is a great pleasure. The medium-long finish offers wood, chocolate, coffee, roasted aromas, barrel notes, vanilla, cream toffee and nuts. I really like this Colombian rum and the drinking experience is simply amazing. Thanks to @MarMih092 for this delicious sample 😋

07.10.2026 Decent release in my mind. ------ RETASTING ------ 06.02.2023 Another set of Dictador samples for home tasting. Colour Dark to very dark. Nose Sweet, light wood, faint coffee, light cherry, spice, light nutts, light orange. Palate Sweet, light, light wood, faint chocolate, raisin, light cherry, light roasted, light cinnamon. Finish Medium long, light wood, sweet, light chocolate, light orange, faint nutts, light coffee.

8,1:On the nose, sweet roasted wood/oak notes like burnt sugar, caramelized, brown, nuts, leather, coffee, spicy, herbaceous, dark molasses with licorice, black tea, dried apricots, raisins, dates, metallic patina, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, orange peel is out, thick, syrupy molasses, some confectionery with pastry, chocolate, vanilla and salty touch. 7,9:On the palate, the attack is sweet with roasted wood notes like burnt sugar, caramel, milk chocolate, nuts, leather, coffee, spicy with baking spices, vanilla, slightly medicinal, metallic, fruity with candied fruits, dried apricots, raisins, red fruits, grapefruit and orange peel, as molasses is dark, thick with licorice, vegetal, earthy with tobacco. 7,8:The finish is medium long, dry, slightly smoky, with notes from palate lingering on.

And another Dictador behind, but I found the first one better, although younger. Here I miss the certain something. It is also very dark and roasted, chocolate and coffee are recognizable, but the younger one somehow had more profile.
