Cigar smokers and fans of the sweeter Spanish style will feel at home here: coffee, cocoa, caramel and leather over a warm, oily body. At 50% the alcohol sits well integrated, and several tasters call it a "sehr angenehmer Alltagsrum" — an easygoing daily pour. A couple note it tastes a touch artificial and lightly sweetened, and the flavor range stays fairly narrow.

Most helpful positive review
The bourbon barrel has left a great rum here that stands out from other Dictador bottlings. Many spices meet fruit and cream toffee, complemented by something toasty. In the mouth the spices dominate, again it could have been a few % more. Apple and honey rejoin the spices on the finish, plus a nice raspberry note. Price is OK for this rum.

Thanks to the slightly increased alcohol content a little more exciting than the standard bottlings, without really being able to inspire. The aromatic spectrum remains narrowly limited to typical notes of the Spanish style, without setting a particular highlight. Can not really inspire me, unfortunately.

Caramel, leather, tobacco. Warm and full-bodied. Alcohol well integrated, very balanced, not particularly complex. On the palate, a bit thinner and slightly artificial. Easy drinking and pleasant, certainly great with a cigar.

So I can't say anything bad about this rum right now. Definitely a very roasted rum, we have a lot of coffee and cocoa here, but also some chocolate, caramel and wood are recognizable on the taste palate. Really good.

A very pleasant everyday rum that doesn't overwhelm. Toffee, caramel, some wood and pleasantly oily. The alcohol is super well integrated. I find the price-performance really okay. But I also believe it's no longer so easy to get.

02.03.2023 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Dark to very dark in colour. Nose Light, sweet, wood, light roasted, apple, spice, light ginger, faint smoke, light anise. Palate Oily, sweet, wood, faint smoke, apple, cinnamon, light leather, faint chocolate, light orange, light ginger. Finish Medium long, sweet, wood, light berries, cinnamon, light anise, cinnamon, light leather.

Nose: dried fruits, raisins, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, light woody barrel aromas. Taste: chocolate, hazelnuts, coffee, light vanilla, a bit of wood, slight sweetness. The finish is rather short. Very decent bottling, good sipper.
