Smooth, full-bodied nose. Old wood, molasses, tropical fruit, but these aromas are rather discreet. Smooth and lively on the palate, with well-integrated alcohol. The finish is long, with molasses and wood. A blind-tasted rum that I found very good, even if it doesn't shine for its originality.

Good rum, but lacks a bit of mouthfeel and nose. It's a foursquare with less intensity than the fs I've drunk. It's still good, but really nothing exceptional.

#4525 14.12.2023 This was a very nice experience actually. I was a bit worried bacause of the mount of air in the bottle. Never the less a very nice and fruity rum with nice natural sweetness and a well rounded palate. The palate is lightly oily and sweet with fruit and spices. The finish is medium to long and fresh as well as oily and sweet with nice fruit.

Another bonus tasting of the night at Whisky Watcher the 24th of February 2024, with nice company. To me, a rather good foursquare rum. A nose of tropical fruits, some hints of caramel, and notes of fresh fruits, and a sweetness in the aftertaste

A Foursquare unfortunately quite one-dimensional. The nose mainly reveals spicy, roasted, peppery and vanilla notes that go towards a light woodiness, caramel, toffee and some exotic fruit notes (coconut). The whole is a bit dull and lacks fragrance at first. On the palate, the observation is different: the Foursquare is more intense, marked by a kind of sweetness on caramel, brown sugar and chocolate. Toasted, roasted, woody and spicy notes accompany the dry and tropical fruits, but the profile is overall unbalanced and clearly lacks body and depth compared to other releases of the same vintage. The finish, of correct length, stands out for its spicy and chocolatey side, its hint of tobacco and its roasted notes that go towards cooked caramel and brown sugar. The finish remains sweet, round and overall more pleasant than the rest. A Foursquare a bit below expectations, both from the bottler and the intrinsic quality of the rum, the latter lacking originality and life.

Cadenhead – Foursquare 2010 (14 years) – 55% Here we talk about a selection signed by Cadenhead — excuse the pun, the oldest independent Scottish bottler — on the Foursquare distillery. Foursquare is the legacy of the Seale family: Doorly’s, the Velier collaborations clearly moving upmarket... no need to retell the history (which starts in the 19th century when the house was still a merchant). The current distillery was established in 1996 on the site of a former sugar factory. Today, molasses is distilled in micro-lots thanks to three Coffey columns and a Caribbean pot still. ➡️ Single cask, pot still + column blend ➡️ 14 years aging in oak cask, most likely ex-Bourbon ➡️ Distillation: October 2010 ➡️ Bottling: Spring 2025 ➡️ Strength: 55% 👃 Nose Very fruity from the start: lemon, citrus, young wood. Then come English marmalade, a discreet hint of smoke, before an explosion of tropical fruits: pineapple, green mango, yellow fruits. 👅 Palate A nice duel between juicy tropical fruits and more spicy/vegetal notes. 👉 Ripe pineapple, bitter almonds, basket of exotic fruits... 👉 Then mango and ginger take over. 🏁 Finish Still tropical, then frankly indulgent: pure butter biscuits, rich vanilla, nice long soft and controlled length. ➡️ Conclusion: a very easy-to-drink, elegant, and fruity Foursquare. Personally, I had a slight preference for its 11-year-old little brother 😉
