CDI Mid West Ghana Distillery Great Whites Overproof 2020
Anyone who loves European fruit brandy will do a double-take here: several tasters swear it could pass blind for Kirsch or Mirabellenbrand. It's a pot-still cane-juice white from Ghana, packed with sour cherry, mirabelle plum and a marzipan note, with a fresh grassy edge. Despite 50%, most find it surprisingly mild. One member calls it "dangerously tasty in a daiquiri."

How does CDI Mid West Ghana Distillery Great Whites Overproof 2020 taste?
Aggregated from 34 community reviews.
Fruit-brandy white: cherry, mirabelle, marzipan People keep saying the same thing: it smells and tastes like an Austrian fruit schnapps. Loved for its cherry-marzipan character, though a couple note it lacks depth and runs a touch warm.
Fans of fruit brandy (Kirsch, Mirabelle) and fresh cane-juice whites

On the nose some fermented melon and papaya with sour notes, some ester and a little garlic, but also sweet hints of red fruits and aquavit. On the soft and enveloping palate, unlike the nose it has no sour notes but sweet notes of black cherry and maraschino cherries, only in the finish some mild pepper and little ester. Overall, however, it lacks depth, although it remains pleasant drinking. Certainly in some tiki cocktails it makes a nice impression. In the empty glass light esters

Wow, this is a very well rounded white. Easy to drink and probably super good in a mixer. Very fruity and especially the cherry is easy to pick up. Love the marzipan in the profile.

First smell was really punchy. Full of ripe tropical fruits. Almost exactly like planters punch mix from leclerc.

Amazingly good and fruity Ghanaian, which is actually reminiscent of a very round fruit brandy.

Great white rum! Reminds in a positive sense after fruit brandy - especially kirsch.

Extremely horny overproof Ghana. Benchmark for me even... Could pass for me blindly as a cherry or mirabelle plum brandy. Nice marzipan/maraschino note and extremely mild! And dangerously tasty in the daiquiri

Exciting nose that can not quite keep up on the palate.

Pretty intense smell. Good! Very fruity cherry/almond schnapps. A lot better than the Vietnam I just tasted. All the plums. Nicely balanced. I'm getting into this Ghana stuff.

My first thought, is the rum or kirsch. For a white nevertheless really good. Positively surprised.

Very fruity, reminiscent of a cherry brandy. I like the nose even better than the taste. A few more percent would have stood him well.
