It's a young unaged New Yarmouth, all funk and tropical fruit, but several people note it drinks surprisingly smooth for 50% and a few wish it hit harder. Let it rest and the solvent softens into fruit and pastry.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement in evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Very nice unaged New Yarmouth. Full broadside of banana, ester, and funk. Yet very smooth! Doesn't quite match the fine drams New Yarmouth at 69%, but it's still available and makes really great atomic daiquiris.

This is an extremely well balanced and fruity rum. If you rest it for a good while it releases a lot of flavors of which some are like pastries. Nice and oily palate with a floral note I like a lot. The glue and polish notes dissipate pretty quick in the well rested glass. Draws really nice curtains in the glass.

I really like this CDI. Why is it called overproof, even though it's only 50%? Beautiful Jamaican nose, esters, tropical fruits and glue mingle. Also esters and tropical fruits on the palate, plus glue, nail polish and polish.

Well, pure, it's really only recommended if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not necessarily. I see it more as a mixer, which is what it's probably intended for. In that role, it also delivers good value for money.

At the opening it will give aromas of acetone and esters. It will need a lot of aeration to bring mango and ripe tropical fruits. I will not drink this rum other than in cocktails.

Nice tasting. Bought for around €42 at Rhum Attitude, sold for about €36 at Perola... The rum has a quite acceptable to good quality-price ratio. On the nose: a very good Jamaican smell => aroma of glue, esters, and tropical fruit. Mouth: aroma of glue, esters, and tropical fruit, a bit disappointed because the taste is not intense; if it had been, I would have given at least 8/10. The 50% is not felt at all, I would say it's even 40%. Finish: medium length, taste: glue, tropical fruit, and less ester. Empty glass: glue, tropical fruit, and after some time the glue evolves into nail polish. Conclusion, really disappointed that even if you only smell glue, esters, and tropical fruit, it is really good but NOT intense, it could have been a banger, an explosion of flavors that makes you drool just by looking at the label but no, they diluted it to 50%.

For an unaged New Yarmouth, this is a classy rum. I always try to describe the flavor as accurately as possible, but this time "tropical fruits" is exactly right, because you can explicitly taste pineapple, mango, papaya, and mango. The alcohol is also not too overpowering, even though you can taste it (but it doesn't taste negative). For me, this is definitely an awesome unaged rum!

Yes, all the funk. Overripe pineapple to the (chemically) max. This is Jamaica baby. Pretty much what to expect but if you like this style you'll love this.

Full blast of esters, glue, lacquer on the nose. A hint of umami behind, but mainly rough. Taste-wise then super smooth, slightly sweet and enormously fruity. Along with the glue comes pineapple, banana, some citrus. Easily beats Veritas and co. Surprisingly mild for 50%.
