Quite solid continental Caroni, fortunately bottled at high alcohol strength. Typical Caroni profile, compared to the tropical representatives, this bottling lacks a little balance, because the heavy wood sweetness is hardly found. Who likes Caroni, is well supplied here, but to the absolute top class is definitely missing some points.

Blind tasting. Well, you can't go wrong, it's a caroni. So, as usual for me, it's great, except for this rubber which spoils it a bit and limits the pleasant side. Personally, rubber is great for bike tires, but I'm much less keen on drinking it 😅😄

#5256 18.04.2025 Enjoying some samples at home while listening to some nice EDM. Nose Wood, light roasted, light tar, light rubber, faint chocolate, cinnamon, complex, dried fruit. Palate Complex, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light rubber, light tar, light leather, faint chocolate, light cinnamon. Finish Long, wood, roasted, complex, light oily, light leather, faint metallic, light rubber, light tar. Empty glass Light rubber and tar, light chocolate, spice, light orange.

On the nose, you immediately get the usual Caroni markers: tar, tire, hydrocarbons, ripe fruits... quickly a gourmand side also comes through! Slightly oily, I sense black olive and spices, the 60% ABV is well integrated! On the palate, the oily side disappears and gives way to freshness, menthol, licorice, leather, tobacco leaf, pepper, and a slight sweetness to carry it all! Good length on the palate with a finish on wood and gingerbread. A very good Caroni with character subtly carried by these 60% and it just glides down.
