#5677 19.09.2025 Late evening tasting after getting home from dinner out. Nose Fresh, light wood, light mint, spice, light peach, faint anise, light herbal, faint rubber. Palate Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, banana, naturally sweet, faint vegetal, light apple, light citrus. Finish Long and warm, light wood, faint chocolate, faint floral, light ginger, fruits. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, light licorice, light citrus, faint rubber.

It's not bad, but not good either, I find the 7.9 rating a bit too high. It's just nicely spicy, roasted, woody, and smoky, but somehow it doesn't really grab me. Well, you can't love every rum ;)

Interesting and surprisingly good blend. From nose to finish, almost identical flavor notes of tropical fruits (I mean mango), spices (especially vanilla), molasses and esters can be recognized, but in different intensities. Alcohol is really well integrated for 70%.

8,5:On the nose, balanced with esters and rubber, fresh, herbaceous, vegetal molasses, overripe tropical and red fruits, baked apple, roasted wood notes, spicy with anise, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, fermented notes are stronger with vinegar, briny olive, the molasses becomes flowery and the wood smoky with bacon, chocolate. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters and rubber, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and mango, red and citrus fruits, joined with green fruits, when aired well, vegetal with briny olive, sweet with roasted wood notes like pastry, smoky with bacon, spicy with ginger. 8,2:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, as overripe tropical, red and citrus fruits pair roasted wood notes, spicy, smoky, flowery, grassy, vegetal molasses like briny olive and medicinal notes like esters, rubber, metallic patina. A quite pleasant blend with nice aromas of esters, fruit and spices. The Caribbean feeling is clearly noticeable and a good introduction to this world. For nerds, however, it lacks edges and corners.

70% ABV !!!? So in the nose there is nothing of it... tropical fruits with banana, papaya and pineapple, some mango and honeydew melon... light fruit esters . On the palate you can feel the alcohol more clearly but for 70% really very well integrated. Here also tropical fruits honey and mango... some vanilla and virgin oak and light marzipan. Blindly I would have guessed a Fiji here.

While the 70% is barely noticeable on the nose, it snakes down the throat with the first sip. You should stick to small sips, then you can enjoy the advantages of this blend - nice ester notes, lots of tropical fruit and vanilla create a nice balance in taste. Quite successful.
