Best sipped neat with a good rest in the glass — this cask-strength Savanna needs air to open. First nose hits you with black licorice, then softens into pineapple, apricot and coconut over dark molasses. A salty, green-olive edge and young oak keep it interesting. One taster even called it almost Bajan. Unusual for a Savanna, and not everyone's thing.

Delicious savanna. The nose is beautifully fruity. We have tropical fruits, especially pineapple and lots of apricot. On the palate, the fruitiness (pineapple and coconut) is joined by some sweetness in the form of vanilla.

Savanna is written on the label, Savanna is inside, even if I wouldn't necessarily classify it as such blindly. Very flowery and green, with some tropical fruit and strawberry yoghurt. The alcohol is not well integrated. Thanks for the sample @Tom

First nosing simply ambushes you with black licorice, but give it some time to open up and a more sweet, fruity profile will open up. Apricot fruit cake, soft nougat and lots of dark molasses accompanied by salty seawater. Slightly surprising taste, almost Bajan. Again deep, dark sweetness from the molasses, but this time with fresh coconut and pineapple, lightly spiced. A touch of salt and black olive. Ends in flowers (rosemary to me), followed by woody, chocolaty goodness. Another job well done by The Nectar. Price/quality is high. Little tip: aeration does this bottle well.

Very unusual Savanna... On the one hand, some mint, pineapple, coconut, strawberry, white chocolate, dried and sulfured apricots and on the other hand slightly salty green olive brine and young oak. Overall relatively round but overall not quite my thing.

It's very different, but I like it. As the gentlemen at nectat say, anyone can fill a regular rum. Our mission is to showcase the unusual, and we've certainly done that here. Considering the price, it's hilarious.

#5366 02.06.2025 Running a few samples at home while watching Moonshiners 😊 Nose Wood, light roasted, faint vanilla, fruits, light melon, faint mineral, light coconut, light vegetal. Palate Wood, grass, medium spicy, spice, light bitter, light citrus, faint floral, light vanilla, dried fruit. Finish Long, wood, dried fruits, faint floral, light bitter, medium spicy, light grass. Empty glass Light vanilla, grass, light mineral, orange. Needs to rest for a good while to really settle and open up.

Rums from the Savanna distillery are among my favorites. I recommend everyone try especially the ester-heavy pieces like Grand Arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in just a few drops of liquid for a long time.
