DDL El Dorado Cask Strength Single Still Enmore EHP 2009
What catches people off guard is how sweet this drinks for 54.3% — burnt caramel and vanilla up front, fresh oak underneath, with toasted coconut, dried apricot and a hint of black tea filling it out. The alcohol sits well-integrated, though a couple of tasters caught some vapor on the nose. A rich, almost syrupy dessert-leaning Demerara that doesn't try to overwhelm you with complexity.
- Burnt caramel finish
- Oily mouthfeel
- Well-integrated alcohol

Aggregated from 18 community reviews.
Sweet, syrupy Demerara with burnt-sugar finish Most tasters find this a rich, sweet, well-balanced Enmore with burnt caramel, vanilla and oak. A few note it trades some complexity for that easy syrupy charm, and a touch of alcohol vapor.

Hammer! Everything a good Guyana needs!

Delicious and sweet rhum even at 54.3%. A tiny taste of oak at the beginning and then goes to caramel with a vanilla finale.

This is a very nice bottling and a well balanced one indeed. Love the round almost velvety profile with its fruity side well mixed with nuts, chocolate and nice caramel. This was the last one in the tasting and I'm happy we saved it for last. Not that it was a huge argument, because when you have cask finishes you want to start with those first 😊

Enmore in top form. Please more of this quality in the El Dorado series!

If you like the beguiling notes of fresh oak with caramel and vanilla that so often accompany tropically aged Demeraras, you'll be right at home here. While there aren't too many other flavors to add to the flavor profile besides a few nuanced spice aromas and subtle dried fruits, this concentration and syrupy melt alone are simply fun for me as a Demerara lover and probably also give the bottling a subjective flavor bonus in the rating. No rum that would overwhelm on the basis of its complexity - instead simply seductively delicious at a high level.

Caramell, vanilla and oak.

Nose: Slight Burnt Caramel, a hint of vanilla, slight vegetal notes, lime juice, Dried Apricot Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla Bean, black tea, dried apricot, faint lime Finish: Medium length finish, Burnt Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla, Black Tea, Lime, Dried Apricot Rating: 7/10 This is a great rum. Oily mouthfeel, good finish. It hits you in that dessert rum kind of mood with the caramel, vanilla, and coconut. Some of the savory elements bring it in. Tropically aged DDL is awesome and Im glad these are available in the US.
