Paranubes Cana Morada Oaxaca Rum
Olive, fresh-cracked agave and pineapple, with a savory, almost briny streak that one taster pinned as smoked bacon and green poblano chilis. This is a young, unaged Mexican cane-juice rum and it tastes unusual on purpose — vegetal, floral and a little funky. Several people compare it to unaged Savanna or even a touch of mezcal. Polarizing, and proud of it.
- Unique olive-savory profile
- Great in daiquiri
- Tropical fruit notes

How does Paranubes Cana Morada Oaxaca Rum taste?
Aggregated from 43 community reviews.
Savory, olive-heavy cane-juice rum, very unusual Loved by people chasing something strange — olive, vegetal and tropical fruit with a savory edge. Shines in a daiquiri. A few found the olive overpowering and the nose just odd.

Really tasty with pineapple, fresh passion fruit and lime and a little bacon, as well as smoked green poblano chilies! It cuts an incredibly good figure in a daiquiri. I think I like it a lot better than the "normal" paranube and it's a little less rough and smoky. For me an absolute bank in the daiquiri, as if you had added some mezcal. 🤤 I'm glad I bought a bottle! More than fair for 40€!

Very interesting and even if the olive dominates, we have quite a lot of flavors, nice discovery. To sum up, my tasting notes: On the nose: Olive, Bacon, Vegetal, Fruity On the palate: Olive, Pineapple, Tropical fruit, Mellow, Kumquat Finish: Vegetal, Lime, Bacon, Olive

Olive overpowers the rest. Interesting, reminds me of some unaged Savannas that I recently sampled. Not really what I like.

On the nose ripe black cherry, melon, lychee, also solvent and some vinegar and smokiness. The palate is warm and enveloping with umami mixed with the fruit ripenings perceived on the nose, also carob and dates. In the empty glass smoked herring, peppers and an unusual floral/fruity scent that I cannot define. Very strange and distinctive, unique, as is the Morada cane used

Unfortunately, they only have unaged and very young rums. But it's amazing how good they are, the potential is definitely there. They said that they have something that has been lying around for 3 years and should be lying around even longer. No idea when it will be bottled and whether it will then come to Europe. I visited the distillery's office/warehouse/bar directly in Oaxaca, Mexico. The distillery itself is in the mountains, unfortunately they don't want visitors there. I bought a bottle of Anejo RX15229 for the equivalent of about CHF 33.

Really strange nose and taste. Has pleased me only conditionally.

Nose: very much freshly broken agave, light pear, a little sweet (pulp?) Mouth: again the cactus is very much in the foreground, bamboo fruit pulp, coconut, pear, in the finish white grape with syrup and slightly salty, alcohol is well integrated
