Don't expect a typical aged rum here — this drinks half like a mezcal cousin. Banana and molasses on the nose, then grassy sugarcane, cream toffee and milky coffee, with just enough oak from 18 months in barrel. At 53.8% the heat is real. Several tasters caught tequila and even a Caroni-ish vibe; one flatly compared it to "bad whisky."

I like this very much. Very agricole-y/sugar(cane)juice. Some Mezcal/tequila. Very pure. Grassy. But also seasalt caramel in the nose. Butterscotch. Milky sweet coffee. Typical. An upgrade to the unaged Paranubes I tasted before. Looking forward to what this distillery will bring.

#5205 05.04.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Fresh, vegetal, light wood, faint smoke, faint tobacco, light nutts, light citrus. Palate Fresh, round, vegetal, light wood, light sugarcane, spice, light spicy, light nutts, light smoke, light citrus, light floral. Finish Medium to long, light wood, vegetal, faint smoke, light citrus, medium spicy. Empty glass Vanilla, light smoke, citrus, light nutts, faint caramel.

I have no idea what to make of this rum. It's predominantly sweet without being really sweet. Caramel, milk chocolate, cookies, cream toffee and butterscotch. Fortunately, there's also a bit of wood.

A ton of banana and molasses on the nose reminding me of bananas foster. The taste carries the banana bits adds in vegetal notes as expected from the cane juice. The finish is spicy and leaves a vegetal taste. I was pleasantly surprised with this rum and think the 54% alcohol is just enough but not to much to make this a pleasant rum to enjoy.

Unfortunately, they only have unaged and very young rums. But surprisingly good ones, the potential is definitely there. They said they have something that's been aging for 3 years and is supposed to age even longer. No idea when it will be bottled and if it will come to Europe. I visited the office/warehouse/bar of the distillery directly in Oaxaca, Mexico. The distillery itself is in the mountains, but unfortunately they don't want visitors there. I bought a bottle of Anejo RX15229 for about 33 CHF equivalent.

Surprisingly quite hidden aroma compared to the white Paranubes. Light fruity and floral notes with maple syrup. The taste is similar. Quite sweet. Very accessible piece for a wider audience. The finish could be longer. Edit: it disappears damn fast 😋

Okey this is good one. Aroma itself is very woody (smoky), creamy and slightly sweet. Combination od this scent reminds me cappuccino or some kind of coffee. Taste as I expected is fruity, spicy and to my personal taste more alcoholic than I like. I noticed wood, spice and little bit of sweetness (chocolate maybe?). This rum has a very dry finish. I think this is very good rum from sugar cane juice. Really like the aroma and maybe if the alcohol taste was lower (not ABV) I would rate this rum higher.

A strange complex taste. With very sticky caramel, and floral taste. Slight spice initially. Very enjoyable after the initial taste. Very fruity, sweet, and little smoky smelling. Slight taste of mezcal with a strong red wine smell

Initial smell of oak, caramel and tangerine. Smoother vibe than the white. Bursts of citrus in the mouth. Fresh apricot and lemon. Very nice. Oak is subtle. Maybe some peach. Sweet finish with a hint of oak bitterness. Tasted at el Tasting Room in Vallarta.
