By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 25,000 bottlings, 280,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

An atypical Caroni and in this case the price is justified only because of its rarity because the rum itself is an interesting experiment, but we are certainly not looking at a classic Caroni. It is an experiment that brings rum together with whiskey because if on the nose it retains the Caroni imprint on the palate instead it seems like a peaty whiskey. If one wants to buy his first Caroni it is best to stay away from it because disappointment and expense would be inevitable. If, on the other hand, you want to try a nice rum aged in the West in whiskey barrels then it may be a good choice. Clearly the price does not help at all.
Retasting 21.05.2021 and it got a few more points :-) This is a great Caroni and there is no doubt as soon as you nose the glass. Typical Caroni notes from the start. If you rest it for a hole those flavours just keep coming and it continues on to the palate with a nicely complex taste and a dry spice finish. A great bottle that I recommend people to try if they like Caroni as well as Trinidadian rum.
Leider entspricht das Whisky Finish nicht wirklich meinen Geschmack.
