The surprise here is the nose: fresh and floral on opening, then after fifteen minutes in the glass it swings toward licorice, coffee and oak. The palate is woody and properly spicy — nutmeg leads, with vanilla, a touch of red fruit and light sweetness. Several tasters found it agreeable but not remarkable, and the finish runs short.

La Route des Rhums Advent Calendar 2023. Karukera Cuver Saint-Malo from Guadeloupe. Very woody on the nose, but red fruits can also be detected. On the palate also very woody, also very spicy, nutmeg stands out here.

Does not necessarily suit all palates, but very pleasantly surprised. Interesting rum, woody, spicy and slightly sweet, very smooth. It’s a decent rum to enjoy with friends and introduce to beginners, or even to amateurs who like the smooth side without it being too sweet.

Advent 2023 no.12. Surprising because fresh and floral nose at opening, like the palate. After 15-20 minutes of airing, the nose is on licorice and the palate much more on coffee and wood, without being exceptional, I like it a lot.

Very pleasant rum where the vegetal remains present despite the woodiness. One tastes a very spicy rum with cocoa and nutmeg. Notes of grape from the aging and cognac are felt with small toasted notes typical of Karukera.
