LohRum Foursquare Barbados 8Y
Caramel, dark chocolate and mocha sit on a young, woody base here — a 63% cask-strength Foursquare from LohRum with an extra stretch in cognac cask. The trouble most tasters hit is the alcohol: hot, not fully tucked in, and it tends to bulldoze the nicer notes. Several found the Foursquare character only faintly recognizable. Give it lots of air.
- Caramel and mocha
- Dark chocolate notes
- Cognac cask twist

How does LohRum Foursquare Barbados 8Y taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Hot young Foursquare, cognac-finished, needs air Most land around "ok but hot" — caramel, mocha and chocolate are there, but the alcohol stays sharp and the cognac finish adds harshness rather than smoothing it out. Needs serious time.

RumXmas 2022, #25, Bonus A & B: I poured the samples during Christmas dinner with family, so it wasn’t really the occasion for a lot of analysis up front. A is the original 8YO Foursquare and B is this one (extra 9 months in cognac cask). So far I’m not always a fan of cognac finishes because I often find it adds a sort of “harshness” to the rum, what I also find in this case. Both samples needed a lot of time to open up and even after a couple of hours the alcohol is stil present. It’s interesting to taste these two samples next to eachother. The A sample was more round to me and the B a little less sweet. After a lot of time some Foursquare notes were present, more detectable in A. I’m glad that the situation caused me to take a lot of time, it did justice to the rum.

#25th B dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: spicy, roasted Mouth: spicy, roasted, mocha Finish: long, astringend, mocha, roasted, oak, cognac This is one of the few rums I personally don't like. The alcohol could be integrated better, but for a foursquare it’s such OK This is super hard… i think this is from Monymusk ca.60% approx. 15 Years

Nachdem ich nun Batch#2 probiert habe, also back to the Roots und Batch#1 probieren.
