#5980 20.11.2025 Relaxing with a few samples in front of my computer listening to Psy Trance 2024 Top 100. Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, plum light leather, faint smoke, faint mint, faint rubber. Palate Oily, medium intense, wood, faint smoke, dried fruit, light leather, faint coffee, faint mint, faint nutts, light plum. Finish Long, wood, dried fruit, light leather, light mint, prunes. Empty glass Prunes, light mint, faint coffee, light herbs.

Smooth, integrated, full taste. Just the profile is too sour for me. ... Enmore - drive still, now just a functional still. Probably the only wooden still in the world that is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.

Tasted at Ian Burrell’s Masterclass at UK RumFest. For me it leads with the burnt suger profile that is typical of Guyanan rums and perhaps a Port Mourant. I had spotted the Precious Drops stand and though this might be their Black Cat (particularly also because there was a second Guyanan rum which I thought could be the White Cat). Turns out I was wrong on the bottle but right on the still and bottler. I thought the younger PM had the edge as the Musty notes could be taken as unpleasant, but this had a lot of intensity and maybe with a little more time could have had more to explore. Either way a very good and interesting rum.
