Levy Lane T.D.L Tamosi Trinidad 2000
Opinions land close together but for different reasons: most call this an elegant, easy-drinking TDL, while fans of the dirty 2001–2003 vintages feel it plays it too safe. Expect lychee, caramel and creme brulee, a soft menthol touch, and an oily texture. The 57% is remarkably well tucked in. What splits people is what's missing: the tar, funk and heavy roast.

Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Elegant, lychee-heavy TDL that plays it safe Well-liked as a delicate, lychee-and-caramel TDL with beautifully hidden alcohol. The recurring gripe: at 22 years many wanted more grip, calling it a touch tame, thin mid-palate, and short on the finish.

A super delicious T.D.L. with a really cool litchi note! Which is always present, from the first nose to the finish🤤 YummY Not soo minty and dirty as TDL’s from 2001-2003. The alcohol is integrated very well, as well as the barrel.

Hm. Spanish triviality meets boredom ala Foursquare. Sounds worse than it is now, but I miss the special, especially at the price. Either way, it will of course get a second chance.

This was a very nice surprise. Once rested it really cane to life with nice freshness and fruits mixed with some spices, wood and a minty touch. ABV is really well integrated and it draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has really nice flavours after about an hour.

The next TDL Crosstasting is coming up. This time the 2000 Vintage: the Tamasoi against the Swell. The nose of both rums immediately makes clear what makes the vintages 2001-2003 so special. The nose here is not flat, but the tar, menthol and heavy roast aromas are missing. The noses are very similar. Compared to the Swell, the Tamosi shows more intense herbs and other vegetal notes that break up the sweet profile somewhat. In addition, as with the Swell, mainly caramel, toffee, sweet cocoa in addition to ripe to dry fruit (very ripe and dried apricot and ripe banana). In the mouth it becomes much thinner than the Swell, but remains true to the more "Spanish" profile. The Tamosi is perhaps a bit fresher-fruiter. A bit weird, while the Swell shows plants uhd herbs in the mouth that the nose hides, it's the other way around with the Tamosi, the tension of the nose fades. The finish is also not as fully smooth as the Swell, but perhaps a bit more multi-faceted with some salty chocolate candy.Honestly, I don't understand how the ratings can be so divergent. For me, both rums are about the same on, the Tamosi with the slightly more interesting nose but a rather thin mouth and the Swell which is intense and round but lacks the tension. The Swell is perhaps a touch ahead at the whole distance.

Elegant nose with sweetness and caramel notes (crème brûlée) and an interesting mix of fruits. In contrast to other 2000s TDLs I do not get minty notes in particular in this bottling. Mint comes to play on the palate. However, we are not looking at fresh mint both rather menthol in a wired combination with fruity notes (wildberries) which reminds me of candy. Also woodies, caramel and chocolate. Pretty nice.

Have had high expectations and they were met 🤩Mega Delicious 🤤Much Litchi just how I love it 🤩

Once again an example of one of my favorite vintages from Trinidad: Super cool elegant TDL! Hammer. Rarely experienced such an intense lychee, caramel and mint note. In addition, this super heavy, oily, thick texture is reminiscent of Earl Grey tea as a syrup in combination with a delicious pastry. Extremely well-integrated alcohol without appearing diluted, aromatically extremely full-bodied, heavy, elegant and delicious. Grandiose bottling!

The farmer's palate says:Rather unobtrusive on the nose, not as dirty-strong on the palate as the 2001 Nobilis (RX13862) and not as minty as the 2003 CDI (RX944), rather finely balanced, very pleasant to drink. So for a 2000 TDL really succeeded.

Tasted as a sample, at the same time as the Trinidad 2003 for comparison. First time I taste a TDL from 2000. Overall it is less expressive and more blended than some more recent vintages. Nice complexity mixing sweet fruits, caramel, wood, berries and a certain menthol freshness. I found the nose a bit alcoholic and the finish moderately long.

82 points. 2000 isn’t my favorite TDL vintage so I didn’t dive into this one with high expectations. The nose is nice but not as expressive as I would have liked. The dirt aromas that I have come to appreciate in the 2001 to 2003 vintages are sadly not present. The palate is a little better, the minty note I like in TDL’s is present but it is more pronounced in the finish. In addition there’s caramel, vanilla, wood and tropical fruit.

This is a very soft elegant representative of the 2000 TDL! In the nase initially fresh and berry, comes, the longer it rests, more and more delicate creme brulee caramel to the fore. The palate is soft, initially heavy sweetness and berry, then spicy dirty, finally fresh and minty. The finish is not quite as pronounced and corresponds to the palate.Certainly a very good TDL, but for me a little too tame
Review by TheRhumhoe
A subtle, delicate T.D.L. The nose is elegant, initially sweet with caramel and brown sugar, then slightly alcoholic, before allowing red and tropical fruits to express themselves. Spices, milk chocolate and mocha return to the gourmet framework before giving way to menthol notes. A pleasant profile, especially after aeration. On the palate, the rum is extremely smooth: the 57% is not perceptible. Minty notes are matched by exotic fruits (lychee, apricot, pineapple, mango, papaya, redcurrant). Crème brûlée, caramel and toffee strut alongside spices and a woody, chocolatey edge. A classic profile for the distillery, incredibly sweet and delicious on the palate. The finish returns to freshness and menthol, followed by dried and exotic fruits. Too bad it's a bit short. Spices, caramel, salt and roasted wood add the finishing touch. A good T.D.L. in itself, very easy to drink, but lacking the cachet to be in the top tier.
Review by Louis Zimmermann
A rather discreet nose that requires a bit of patience before opening up. On the palate, you quickly find the TDL signature with notes of peach iced tea, a touch of eucalyptus, and a nice freshness. A pleasant profile, but it lacks a bit of complexity and depth to fully convince.

Retasting from today after getting a bottle and after having opportunity to compare to other TDLs from around that period (01-03). This one is very delicate. Has the flowery notes like 03 i tried, some herbs and menthol from 01. A bit of tropical fruit, light, some coffee and smoke. More caramel and vanilla. Quite enjoyable, however have to be fair to the other two and bring down the score a bit. Perhaps the original tasting which was lead by a 30yo KFM somehow had a positive influence on the original tasting. Original From a tasting session with Benjamin. This is so good. A mix of buttery notes, caramel, loads of tropical fruits and coffee.

Somehow a beautiful drop without The nose is caressed by tropical fruit, on the palate very soft and balanced with a nice lychee note. A pleasing, very good rum, slightly sweet on the finish, which also fits in well. A well-rounded affair. The dirty profile of some Trinidad TDLs is not entirely absent, but only appears to some extent after some time in the glass.

Appealing TDL in Spanish style with rich caramel, vanilla, and ex-bourbon cask aromas. Combined with roasted-spicy notes, the sweetness on the palate shows quite distinct hints of dairy products, reminiscent of crème brûlée and cappuccino.
Review by Johannes
Very similar to the typical 2001-2003 TDLs. However, this one is more delicate, not so brute, more discreet.

🥃 Tamosi – Trinidad (TDL) 2000 – 57 % Single cask, distilled in columns in 2000, 16 years under the tropics + 6 years in Europe in ex-bourbon. Barrel proof, autumn 2022 collection. The nose is clearly the strong point: ripe, elegant, woody, with vanilla, caramel, and tropical fruits. On the palate, a beautiful oily texture but a more restrained overall impression, almost too much. Caramel, vanilla, then licorice and leather in the background. The finish, warm and dry, stretches over wood, molasses, and licorice. ➡️ A balanced and easy-to-drink rum, clearly good… but too flat and too short for a rum of this age.
Review by Djehey
Very floral profile, even feminine, delicate and elegant. Temperature greatly influences this rum, especially the nose which takes on a more alcoholic and peppery side. The palate is simpler than other TDLs: floral, brown sugar, lychee and lemon zest. There's a nice sweetness. The rum is quite oily. What I also appreciate is that it has been slightly reduced.
Review by Buddudharma
Notes of bitter almond, some fruit and wood, overall very smooth. However, I miss the typical robust and dirty notes, for me the profile is a bit too pleasing.

After 30 minutes of aeration On the nose, I have a slightly spicy/peppery side, also smoky. I have quite a lot of tropical fruits, almost candied, very gourmand. Compared to other Trinidads I know, it doesn't have a very expressive nose. A very light rubbery thread that is crushed by fruity/floral. I have trouble saying which fruit. My father says yellow fruits like apricot/peach, my mom and my sweetheart are more on orange. On the palate, the orange side stands out with the rubber. I also have a smoky side on the palate. It's intoxicating, very fatty, it envelops the palate. Very strong in taste contrary to a nose that seemed more discreet to me. Alcohol well integrated. Medium finish, similar to the palate. After reading I have a vanilla that stands out well and a good caramelized brown sugar (I read crème brûlée and it really speaks to me).

Either the samples were mixed up (by mistake) or it tastes almost exactly like the Plantation Venezuela 2010/2012. Other opinions on this? Except that the Plantation one is about 1/3 the price of this one. Nose: Very weak mint, almost non-existent. Not the "sought-after" profile. Present is bourbon, burnt caramel (obviously re-casked or similar) yellow fruits, pear, vanilla and kiwi. Typical Spanish fruit nose. Palate: Yellow fruits, bourbon whiskey, Spanish. Finish rather short. Not a bad rum, but clearly the Spanish profile without the mint (was I trolled?) and I could swear it's a first-degree relative of Plantation Venezuela 2010/2022. I'm curious to see what others think.

Not as exuberant as most of the TDL 2000's released recently. More like the official bottlings, especially on the nose. The fruitiness (tropical, blackcurrant/litchees) is there after a classic attack but very delicate, subtle, as if muted. A very elegant selection!
Review by Jacques etdom
A TDL on the Hispanic side. Very soft on the nose, caramel, peach. A bit livelier on the palate. A bit of extra menthol. One of the weakest TDL 2000. Nothing worth the detour.
Review by Cédric Meyers
More interesting on the nose than on the palate, alcohol not very well integrated.
Review by Rhumakase
Notes of mint, exotic fruits, light woody/caramel. Lots of pleasure on the palate with red fruits, mint, spices, melted wood and an oily side. Very slight tar as well. Very good!
Review by Mentalo
Quite an unpronounced nose, but the alcohol is very well integrated. Relatively sweet with caramel and fruit. Not a bad rum, but I miss the mint, the menthol and the berries of a top T.D.L.
