Long Pond Plantation Jamaica (Vinothek Massen) VRW 2009
Sipped neat, this Long Pond leans fruity over funky: banana, mango and a clear orange-mandarin note wrapped in barrel spice. A quick "bite of Jamaican funkiness" opens it, then a sweet orange-wine finish takes over. Well balanced and easy for a VRW at cask strength, though several tasters wished for more depth and a bit less building sweetness late on.

- Easy for cask strength

How does Long Pond Plantation Jamaica (Vinothek Massen) VRW 2009 taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Fruity, orange-forward Long Pond, light on funk Most find it balanced and easy-drinking — tropical fruit, wood and a sweet orange finish. The common gripe: it's tamer and simpler than a VRW should be, with sweetness some found off.

A short bite of Jamaican funkiness soon turns into sweet orange/mandarin, a combo that definitely works for me.

First of all, a big thank you to SaibotZtar for this awesome mega-split from Plantation with some really rare bottlings. I'm honestly very excited about what Plantation can do now.

On the nose the bottling shows a nice combination of fruity notes and wood. Quite balanced and enjoyable. Compared to other releases with (predominant tropical aging), this one is way less funky/ester heavy on the nose than I expected for a VRW. The „Orange Wine“ is detectable on the nose but imo in no way overwhelming. Similar on the palate: very well balanced with fruits and wood. Again not very funky. The Orange notes are showing up on the finish a bit more but are otherwise well integrated into the mix.

I really like the VRW Mark, but this one doesn't quite convince me. Especially the sweetness that builds up seems a bit strange to me. Also too much orange at the back. Good, but there are much better ones.

Jamaica finishes with a sweet orange.A little too sweet for my taste.

Tolle Abfüllung in solider Qualität.
