Romdeluxe Uitvlugt Wild Series Rum No. 29 (Excellence Rhum) MPM 1989
"Tužka, tužka, tužka" — one taster nails it: this is pencil shavings in a glass, dry wood and graphite with a medicinal edge. Classic old Uitvlugt, but softened by the low proof. Anise, roasted notes and a little dried fruit sit underneath. Easy to drink and light on the nose; the one recurring gripe is that 45% leaves it feeling thinner than a 32-year-old could be.

04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- #4027 We lined up this one and its brother with the same age and this one looses big time. This is a more subtle rum and I'm in no doubt that it's because of the ABV. All notes are kind of light. Fruity a sn woodsy with roasted notes and the nose is extremely light. Easy drinkable and I think most would be able to drink it. Draws amazing curtains in the glass whereas the empty glass fades quickly. Adding some of its more powerful brother reveals a more balanced rum 😊

I tasted this rum a month ago but didn’t take any notes. I just remember that I liked it a lot, will try to sample it again at some point and take notes this time.

Very bitter, woody and medicinal. Very astringent in the finish, like chewing on pencils. Not quite my thing. Also has a rather sharp, alcoholic and metallic effect on me. Sorry, but it doesn't appeal to me.

I know that 30+yo Uitvlugt rum is rare, but.. this one taste more than like a water than a rum. The Uitvlugt profile is realy weak. I preffer 80 bottles of cask strength than 130 bottles of 45%
