Here's the twist: for a 16-year Long Pond, the ester funk barely shows up. This is the quiet, low-ester side of the distillery — dried fruit, apple, orange peel and vanilla over toasted oak, with pepper and a touch of chocolate. At nearly 69% the alcohol sits surprisingly well, and it opens up the longer it rests. Give it plenty of swirling and a little time.

#5520 01.08.2025 Running through some samples at home while listening to a Tomorrowland 2025 playlist. Nose Round, balanced, light wood, fruity, light mango, faint floral, light citrus, light caramel, light cinnamon. Palate Oily, fresh, round, balance, light wood, dried fruit, light caramel, light banana, light mango, light citrus, faint floral, spice. Finish Medium to long, light wood, faint smoke, spice, banana, faint chocolate, light caramel. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, dried fruit, light caramel, light nutmeg. Low ester release and the longer it rests the more flavours appears. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind.

Very irritating and unusual Long Pond. Reminds me more of an old Clarendon due to the intense camphor and leather polish, as well as menthol notes. I have no idea whether the bottle really contains what it says on the tin 😃 Unfortunately not to my taste....

8,5:On the nose, medicinal with rubber, tar, toasted wood/oak notes like caramel, roasted nuts, milk chocolate, sweet, tannic, tropical fruits like banana, coconut, dried apricots, raisins, citrus fruits like orange, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is flowery, musty, dark with licorice, black tea, thick, apple is out, vanilla, caramelized notes and camphor. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is oaky, toasted with caramel, chocolate, nuts, pastry, leather, spicy with vanilla, anise, peppery, tannic, fruity with orange, banana, dried apricots and raisins, medicinal with polish, camphor, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, earthy. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, medicinal with polish, fruity with orange, apple, coconut and dried figs, oak is toasted with maple, caramelized, smoky, spicy with vanilla, nutmeg, molasses is thick, floral, earthy.

It was just a very small bottom as a taster (it’s morning after the night shift) and I drank it relatively fast, but I liked it. Good value for money for a LP of that age if you compare it with the likes of the Rom de luxe wild series (and even the 15 year old ITP from the distillery, but that price is quite absurd).

Another low ester, high proof, LP in the glass. Lets see where this goes. Very meek and shallow on the nose. It needs constant agitation to release anything other than musty, camphorous or mineralic notes. Then we get coconut husks, plantains, crisp red apple and a plethora of dried fruits. It instantly transports me to fruity red wine country with oily, fermented, and lightly tannic smells. There’s faint petrichor under a blanket of vanilla and peppers. Upon swirling it releases overpowering licorice as it eventually ends in a hint of saffron. On the palate it also needs lots of swirling to release all of its flavours. Red wine notes, followed by plantains and waves of freshly squeezed orange juice. The barrel spices are more prominent, this time accompanied by salt and unadulterated anise. This freshness is counterbalanced by earthy flavours such as wet soil and gardening peat. Despite the age and ABV the finish is relatively unexciting and releases nothing more than orange juice, wood, some spice, and -foremost- soil notes. The alcohol is integrated reasonably well.

This rum did sit in the glass for a good 30-45 minutes before the review. On the nose: Spicy, rubber, tar, light dried fruits, musty, woody and little bit of licorice notes. Taste: Woody, dark chocolate, leather, peppery notes in the background, light dried fruits. Light earthy notes. Little bit of banana notes. Light vanilla notes. Mouthfeel is slightly dirty, oily and salty. The high abv present but it is integrated very well. Finish: Woody, earthy, peppery notes, light leather notes. Roasted. Light mocha notes. Dark chocolate notes. This rum just gets better and better if you let it sit in glass for longer. I dont have much of tasting experiences on the LSO mark rum before, so this was pleasant surprise. Darker, but calmer notes on the overall profile.

RFC 2024 silver advent calendar. A nice wild intense nose, which the taste does no disgrace. Quite a lot of chocolate notes, lots of fruit and esters combine to create a pleasant experience worthy of a longpond.

A low esters Long Pond, maybe is not where the distillery excells, considering this dram. It's not a bad rum, the High ABV is enough integrated and the rum is yet really tasteful. But I cannot call it pleasant. The nose is alcool driven and quote shy, while the palate shows a wide palette of tastes ranging from banana chips and caramel to wood and spices. Not a bad rum overall, but from Jamaica we do expect more

Quite untypical Long Pond, minimum esters. Dried fruit (apple, banana), a little vanilla, chocolate, a hint of camphor. Pepper, aniseed and wood are added to the taste. OK rum, but a sample was enough for me to try.

Personally, I like Jamaica and its rums, but I more prefer more esters ones. Yeah this one is good, but somehow it reminds me Appleton - gentle, polite…I don’t mean that I don’t like it, this is excellent piece of work…but a guess I am not into peaty tones… So the color - like honey - between yellow/gold and brown. The nose - well, here are those peaty tones, it doesn’t smell me good - more stinky. Yeah of course there are some apple or dry fruit tones…woody The taste - the more it rest in glass the better…68% is integrated very well, orange peel, lemon tones, light woody.. Aftertaste- medium, dry woody, Smoke, spicy…

After a long time, I decided to grab another sample, my first Nobilis. In aroma I noticed decent hint of mustiness, oak, dried fruit. That fruit scent is combination of apples (juicy) and orange peel (pretty nice in my opinion). I also noticed some sweet scents, mostly chocolate and molasses with little bit of pepper. Taste was pretty sweet (vanilla and molasses) with combination of dried fruit, orange peel and hint of banana. There is also pepper and wood combination. Finish is warmy, sweet and again I feel like apple juice. This was pretty nice experience. My first Nobilis, to be honest I will not guess this is Long Pond or even rum from Jamaica.
