I’m a big fan of Montebello and I recently bought the 2022 edition of the 3, 6 and 8yo version. The 6 yo can be found as vintage 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2009 but also editions 2021 and 2022. If the latter ones are vintages or not is unsure. It seems like there will be new editions every year now. I don’t now if they differ very much. I’ve tasted the 2003 before, but it’s some years ago. On the older ones the vintage year is written on the backside label, but on the later ones they instead has written the bottling year on the front label. The one I review here is edition 2022, but I’m unsure if it’s really a vintage or not. Overall a very complex, balanced and elegant rum.

Well, another sample destroyed. Montebello probably won't be one of my favorites either. The profile doesn't really appeal to me. Overall the rum doesn't really work for me. It lacks depth or maybe it's my general rejection of the profile. It also seems a bit thin/watery. Nice to have tried, but nothing more.

A rum as Guadeloupe knows how to make them. It's dry, woody, fragrant, spicy. Also a very pleasant pastry side. On the palate, the 42° are perfectly integrated. It's spicy, fruity. Almost salty. Quite pleasant.

Whisky Live Paris 2024 trade tasting. Pleasant, rounded profile, already with a nice presence of the agricole sugarcane aromas, rounded off by the cask influence. Subtle spice, overall very pleasant, but a notch behind the eight-year-old release.
