Hampden Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 32 C<>H 1990

Very high expectations are not disappointed here. Despite the high age, wood notes remain in the background and a HD Esterbombe as you want them not only dance here on the tongue but flow directly when you open the bottle through the air.

A 90s Hampden, what more could you want? It's fantastic that there's still a barrel of this crazy stuff on the market.

Superb, fresh fruity nose with a hint of smoky bacon, buttery fat, pear and fully-integrated wood. Exceptional freshness and airy fruitiness, the opposite of woody, encaustic notes.

RumX Awards 2023 and re-tasted 6 months later. Despite its age, the esters are very present without dominating. Buttery, nicely acidic, lemony, overripe banana, grilled bacon and yellow fruit make up a nose that remains balanced despite its complexity. The attack is lively and explosive, with fat (butter) tempering the fire and fruit filling the mouth. Yellow fruit (pear and apple) and young wood. The finish is long, elegant and fresh. No flaws here, everything is clean and precise. The wood is perfectly integrated. The fruit remains right to the end. In the empty glass, you discover an unprecedented sweetness, with the wood clearly perceptible. The favorite rum of this top RumX selection.

This rum is really absolutely top, mega!Super complex and balanced.

Genius Hampden. Should not be older.

Let's see if the high expectations are achieved...The first thing that comes to me from the glass is pineapple marzipan and a sweetness associated with it. The other Hampden markers like glue and ester are not missing. The alcohol is only noticeable at the beginning, after 40min I can smell deep into the glass without the alcohol interfering. In the background I find a faint smoky note and fresh white wine. Could I smell it for hours!On the palate I experience the great effect that the rum 1-2 seconds "lunges" to then throw itself with force on the taste buds and provoke salivation. The rum remains present for a long time but the intensity quickly decreases. It remains a dry mouthfeel and light smoke.The price of a bottle is another matter.

#4669 24.03.2024 Sitting at home relaxing well knowing that I'll be off next week 😊 Nose Intense, fresh, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, overripe, banana, light mint. Palate Intense Fresh, fruity, citrus, dried fruit, light licorice, light floral, light salty, spicy, light roasted wood. Finish Long and warm, light roasted wood, citrus, fruity, overripe, light mint, plum. The empty glass has some light caramel, herbs and light tobacco. Price can be argued but this is a very good Hampden, yummy.

Top notch 1990 C<>H! On the nose, an exquisite balance between tropical fermented fruit, vanilla, and a distinct sweetness (towards jam, stewed fruit). Moreover, very mild for the marque. On the palate sweet-ripe pineapple, candied fruit and apple vinegar, which also dominates the finish. I really like the 32 years in (continental) barrel here! It remains interesting to see how the 1990 vintage continues to develop. Has it reached its zenith?

Textbook C<>H from 1990 - the nose is funky, fruity with a lot of ripe fruits (not overripe!), glue a bit of nail polish and a great woody influence. On the palate is is sweeter then expected but also quite dry, even astringent. Loafs of pineapple, grilled pineapple, banana and banana peel. The nail polish and glue are there but integrated in the fruit basket. The finish is long and warm, banana, vanilla and some wood. When the funkiness leaves the bananas (fryed in butter) stayed.

Lovely 1990 C<>H, very well balanced with everything in the right place in the profile. Slightly better compared to RX16315, but that’s seeking differences between high profiles in the playing field.

Great Hampden!

Hampden bomb. There's a lot going on. Classic HD profile but at the top level. Intense like the HV C<>H. But very mild at the same time. Tastes very cool. Age has left its mark on this Hampden. Lots of esters in the form of pineapple, citrus and almond. Really fun.

Nice representation of the 1990 C<>H, intense and very well balanced on the nose and palate as well.

Incredibly good Hampden! The 90s simply remain the benchmark!
