This is a retaste and I stick to my initial score. A very unique release as its been fully matured continentally. Fruity with light wood and spices and some chocolate on the profile. The glas is wonderful an hour after emptying.

Wow, I'm thrilled! I am actually sure that this is not a Foursquare. Completely out of character for Foursquare. I would guess West Indies. It has that typical honey note that I only know from Rockley.

So I wouldn't have expected this by any stretch of the imagination.... 20y Kontintental matured foursquare and it just tastes extremely similar to a 1986 rockley to me?! Honeycomb, honey, herbs like lemon thyme and lemon verbena, some incense and smoky notes as well as baking spices and car paint. Horny stuff if a bit thin but supposedly this is a cask strength! Celebrate I more than I would have expected.... In the finish then discreetly bitter as something too long drawn green tea, with honey and slightly salty.... Very unusual profile!

The fruity profile is what stands out the most. Very nice and different than the other Foursquare's i tasted so far.

Initially, I had difficulty analyzing a particular smell and taste. When I then looked up what else was entered, it fell like scales from my eyes, incense it was. Otherwise, it is for a continental stored really good, but unfortunately not one that completely blows me away.

On the nose I have most likely green apple, almost like a 98 Sancti Spíritus. On the palate, the rum seems balanced, but also somehow watery and dull. This is really supposed to come from a pot still? Have I had this taste sensation before with RA's Rockley? I can't remember and unfortunately don't have a comparison sample anymore. In any case, this FS is quite different from the previously tasted FS from Royal Cane from 2005 (RX14165), somehow finer. For me the easier sipper.

Cross-tasting with seven bottlings from Royal Cane. Would have guessed WIRD rather than Foursquare here. A little watery on the palate. Overall, none of the bottlings convinced me.

The honey-smoke-herb combo is nice, but somehow it's too spicy even though it's too thin.
