Not at all as similar to Foursquare 2009 as I thought, but very good one!

... Foursquare je destilerka z Barbadosu produkujici uzasne rumy ke kazdodennimu popijeni. Je to rum, ktery oceni zejmena rumari, kteri maji plne zuby cukru a hledaji jemny, nasladly rum plny kokosu, vanilky, cokolady a karamelu. Proste prijemne a nijak agresivni chute.

Nose goes to orange (No 18) versus blue (No 17). Palate the other way round. Both significantly below the regular 2010 ECS, however.

Got this sample for free from RumX. It’s a mix of column and pot still distilled rum that’s aged for 11 years, first for 5 years tropical and then 6 years continental. It has spent 5 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and 5 years in an ex-whisky barrel. Finally it was bottled in 259 bottles at 61,1%. Overall an OK rum, but with too strong alcoholic taste, that’s not near Foursquare’s own bottlings.

The nose is very bourbon-heavy, small wonder - the rum matured 5 years in a bourbon barrel. From the other 5 years in the whiskey barrel is not much to feel - was obviously not an Islay whiskey. On the palate very similar. A certain intensity is there due to the approx. 61% alcohol but unfortunately not many flavors are transported besides bourbon, vanilla and roasted notes.Overall ok but for Foursquare pale, alcoholic and even less representative than No 17 (probably because of the storage in the whiskey barrel, which rarely suits me).Practically without significant difference to Barbados No. 17.One more note on the storage in the whiskey barrel: What prevents the bottler to disclose in what kind of barrel the rum was stored for the last 5 years? Please complete transparency!

Sehr alkoholisch, bisschen Holz, leichte Vanille.

10.02.2023 A nice CoR tasting with a good friend. Colour Light in colour. Nose Light wood, faint roasted, alcoholic, fruits, spice, faint chocolate, faint floral. Palate Warm, light wood, alcoholic, fruits, faint citrus, light pineapple, spice, light chocolate, light bourbon. Finish Medium to long, light wood, light roasted, spice, warm, spice, faint chocolate, fruits. The ABV is not that well integrated even when rested for a good while.
