CoR Long Pond Jamaica No. 8 LPS 2001
Best sipped neat, slowly — this is a cask-strength Long Pond built around pineapple, overripe banana, and that telltale glue-and-varnish funk. The 21 years of continental aging keep the heat in check, and the nose is the star: bright, fruity, full of esters. Several tasters note the palate runs a touch thinner than the aroma promises, and some pick up bitterness and wood toward the end.
- Beautiful estery nose
- Pineapple and banana
- Manageable cask strength

How does CoR Long Pond Jamaica No. 8 LPS 2001 taste?
Aggregated from 39 community reviews.
Funky, pineapple-forward Long Pond, nose beats palate Most find a gorgeous, ester-heavy Long Pond nose, fruity and funky. The common catch: palate feels a bit thin and unassuming next to it, with wood and bitterness on the finish.

Excellent long pond. The continental aging and total of 21 years gives it a very easy and inviting warmth with some spicy and peppery notes to it. Colours of rum has been releasing excellent rums, can't wait to try more!

The palest of the three new Long Pond of Colous of Rum. But with the most intense and fruit accentuated nose of all three! The aromatic proximity continues until the finish, is there possibly a mistake on the label? Super straight rum until the finish! Striking similarity with the profile of Hampden!

Wow! Nice and round Long pond

Definitely the highlight compared to the No.11. Exactly what I’m looking for in a Long Pond. The girlfriend had a sniff and sipped the rum and found it disgusting 🤣

Got a sample of this rum for free from RumX. Long Pond is known for its funky and high-ester style of rum. It’s pot still distilled in 2001 whereafter it has been continentally aged in an ex-rum barrel for 21 years before bottled at cask strength in 245 bottles at 56,4%. Overall a fruity and funky rum.

Beautiful LongPond Rum, pineapple you have immediately in the nose and on the palate, light wood notes and overall very fruity.

Too subtle for me. In aroma it's a blast, beautiful overripe fruit, young wood, fine glue. The taste is unfortunately very subtle to the point of bordering on blandness for me. Too bad. On the palate otherwise esters, overripe fruit (pineapple, banana), a little glue.

Very light funky rum from Jamaica. Strangely enough I don't smell much esters, rather lingering pineapple, and other fruits, maybe candied. The flavour is similar, again pineapple, sweetness and such a funky freshness prevails. The first longpond that I really like

Nose Funky with solvent (ester) fruits and neat wood impact. On the palate Woody, fruitiness decreases significantly. Bitternotes very pronounced. Nose and palate are already distinctly different. Good base for a blend in May Tai together with a young HD or NY very well imagine.

Beautiful long pond esters, slightly overripe fruit (pineapple), clearly woody, a little too bitter and astringent for me.

Jamaica No. 8 vs No. 11 vs No. 12 Nose clearly goes to No. 11. very nice basket of fruits and overripe banana. Is this maybe one of the 2000 VRWs vs LPS for the other two? No. 12 is nice with some tropical fruits and spices. No. 8 is dominated by wood and remains sharp even after > 1h in the glas. Taste: 2001 (8) much better on the palate vs on the nose. However, a little thin and unassuming. Not bad, though. 2000 (11) sweet and fruity on the palate as well. Easy going but also quite nice. If anybody knows the mark on this, let me know 🙂 Overall my winner out of the three 1998 (12) also very round and easy going. A little more wood and roasted notes. Feels a little thin and uninspired to me, however.

This was one of my favourite at Milano Whisky Festival, crisp and tasty. I brought home a sample, going back on it I have to say it wasn't worth my hype. Glue, esters, varnish at the nose plus some sweet notes drinking, honey I'd say.
