Schöner Long Pond hier.

Got a sample of this rum for free from RumX. It’s a 23yo pot still rum distilled in 1998 continental aged in an ex-Rum barrel whereafter it’s bottled at cask strength in just 163 bottles at 52,7%. Overall a fruity, soft and round rum. Not a typical Long Pond.

A surprisingly thin and light LP with little expressive flavors! Based on the data I had expected something more

Good, very round Long Pond, with rather little fruit, more almond instead, slightly astringent. It would be interesting to know how many years it has been stored tropically. For me, it has subtle tropical notes.

Also a nice entry for Jamaica and Long Pond. Again, unimpressive at first and becoming stronger with the onset of the aftertaste. The (simultaneously tasted) Jamaica No. 10 seems more defined and intense, which I like better. The aftertaste is here in comparison also shorter and less intense.Good entry-level rum.

When I read Long Pond 1998 with the Mark LPS, I bought almost blindly. Fortunately, it was a sample first. I really don't notice anything of LPS. The rum doesn't have much character. Very disappointing.

Enttäuschender LPS. Kaum Fruchtaromen, insgesamt einfach dünn. Erinnert mich eher an einen OWH.

Mmh .... very thin ... tastes almost watery. I had really expected more. Some fruit, some wood ....minimal esters. Everything already there but incredibly little of everything ... A real shame. Very short finish without leaving an impression, at least for me.

Jamaica No. 8 vs No. 11 vs No. 12 Nose clearly goes to No. 11. very nice basket of fruits and overripe banana. Is this maybe one of the 2000 VRWs vs LPS for the other two? No. 12 is nice with some tropical fruits and spices. No. 8 is dominated by wood and remains sharp even after > 1h in the glas. Taste: 2001 (8) much better on the palate vs on the nose. However, a little thin and unassuming. Not bad, though. 2000 (11) sweet and fruity on the palate as well. Easy going but also quite nice. If anybody knows the mark on this, let me know 🙂 Overall my winner out of the three 1998 (12) also very round and easy going. A little more wood and roasted notes. Feels a little thin and uninspired to me, however.

Funky, tropische kandierte Früchte, bisschen Holz und leicht bitter.
