Charred cherry wood, dark syrup and roasted nuts up front, with caramelised banana, black tea and a cool minty finish underneath. This is a Jamaica/Trinidad blend with sherry cask influence, and at 70% it needs 20-30 minutes to open. Several tasters loved the fruit and density, though some found the sherry and heat too much neat.

#6271 24.01.2026 Online tasting with a few of the guys today. Thank you Peter for the sample gathering and distribution. Nose Wood, roasted, light herbs, banana, cherry, light mint, light caramel. Palate Oily, fresh, wood, light roasted, light earthy, mango, faint coffee, light caramel, anise, mint. Finish Long, oily, wood, nutts, light anise, cherry, mint. Empty glass Mint, light coffee, mango, faint smoke, caramel.

I feel a technical and woody cultivated Jamaican. The fun begins after tasting, when the jamaica initially shows up, immediately giving way to a hint of trinidad spice and eventually the cherry sweetness takes over. At first I'm quite excited, later on the sherry is probably too much.

For me, it's actually more of a mixer than to be enjoyed straight. I'll try it in CubaLibre soon. I'm not convinced right now. Edit: tried it today as a mixer in CubaLibre. Definitely more suitable as a mixer. Corrected upwards as a result. Pure rather 7.6 than mixer 8.8. Awarded an average of 8.2 points

Mmmm... tough one. I didn't like it at first because of too much sharpness and little complexity. Lots of barrel influence. Got better over time. Very good in Coke. Unfortunately, the rum never really convinced me completely.

This release needs 20-30 minutes in the glass to let the aggression settle. After resting you immediately pick up on very dark sugarsyrup and charred cherry wood. It’s thick, sweet, roasted and lightly smoked. There’s black fruits and juniper gracefully adds some bark and citrusy notes into the mix. On the nose the TDL component is too overpowering. Tasting finally reveals some WP: caramelised banana, tea and dairy. All other fruits are mostly scorched away by the heat. Hot, very dark and syrupy, but this time followed by salted butter into a minty, cool finish. It’s a nice blend, the alcohol is integrated pretty well and the price/quality is reasonably high at release. However I would have liked a little more involution.
