Papillon Vieux from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe is a blend of 3yo different vintages distilled in their Creole columns and aged in new American oak barrels as well as in former Bourbon barrels. Overall a good and tasty Agricole that is quite complex.

Ce vieux fait partie de la nouvelle marque fondée par Longueteau : les rhums papillon (référence à la forme qu’à la Guadeloupe vue d’en haut). Ce rhum vieux est un assemblage de rhums de plus de 3 ans (Fûts de chêne neufs US et Fûts Ex-Bourbon). Embouteillé, à 45% pour le rendre le plus accessible possible. Au nez, on retrouve un profil épicé-poivré-vanillé. C’est plutôt frais avec du zeste d’orange. L’attaque en bouche est douce et équilibrée. On retrouve le poivré du nez, du boisé et des fruits secs. La finale est moyennement longue sur la réglisse. Ce papillon se rapproche du Symphonie de la collection Harmonie de Longueteau. Et comme souvent chez leurs vieux, nous sommes encore loin d’un vrai bon agricole comme on les aiment habituellement …
