Romdeluxe Versailles Collectors Series No.12 Guyana 16 REV 2006
One taster called it "more balanced and smoother" than the Milano REV, and that lines up with the room: dark, heavy Guyana from the Versailles still — prunes, dried figs, roasted wood, leather and a licorice-menthol edge. Several note the 53.3% sits well hidden. Give it 15 minutes of air; a couple mention a musty note early that blows off.
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Prunes and dried fig
- Balanced wood

How does Romdeluxe Versailles Collectors Series No.12 Guyana 16 REV 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 47 community reviews.
Dark, woody Guyana with prunes and leather A favorite among the 2006 REV bottlings — deep, woody and fruit-driven with well-integrated alcohol. Most find it balanced; a few flag a faint musty or metallic note that needs air to fade.

Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
Tasted against the RC REV 2006 (RX16863). And hard to detect any difference at all. Perhaps the RdL is a bit smoother and a bit shorter and somehow slightly musty in the finish, where the RC struts away there full of power broad-legged. But this is only a nuance and possibly due to the form of the day. Both rums are extraordinarily successful representatives of their kind. 😍 😍

Delicious young REV. But could be a bit milder, has a subtle hint of plum water and menthol and then the typical bitter molasses, licorice and prune vanilla notes come through.... Also some lavender! Overall a very tasty drop, just not quite my profile. And 200€+ is also an announcement.

Lots of flavors - The many years in cask have given a fine touch of cask character, which gives balance in all taste impressions to a delicious round rum that rounds off nicely.

Another wonderful representative of the 2006 REV. I like this dark, heavy profile, paired with a little sweetness. I can smell it for a long time and sip it with relish. A lovely rum to enjoy in the evening

#4254 16.09.2023 Whisky N Rum Show 2023. This is a really nicely balanced Diamond and the wood and ABV are really well integrated. I rested it for around 15 minutes and I noticed just how much the profile opened up. Fruity and nice roasted wood notes with light spices on the nose. The palate is lightly dry and spicy with some fruit and spices. Long as in long light dry finish with wood and raisin. Nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass had a light smoky note with some chocolate.
Review by Galli33
Very similar to the Rev from Milano, but more balanced and smoother.
Review by Tschusikowsky
Strong and spicy Guyana profile. The bottling seems older to me than it is. Compared to the SBS, for example, it seems to me to have a much deeper taste, the wood notes are more pronounced although the fruit aromas remain present.

Slightly softer and overall rounder than the Milano Rum Festival. This rum certainly has its fans.

Winner of our little bind tasting with a very well balanced profile and dried figs. Excellent REV profile.
Review by FischeJ
Very nice REV. Lots of wood, lots of roasted aromas and pencil shavings. Also dried fruit (plum). The same picture in the mouth. Alcohol barely noticeable. Dry and spicy on the finish. I like it very much.

Heavy, dark Guyana with beautiful fruit and medicinal notes. There's a lot going on here and aromas from all over the world. Great fruit in the nose and on the palate... at the same time a lot of wood influence and eucalyptus as well as menthol. The mocha content is not so high. I therefore like it very much. Top REV 2006 representative.

Great REV 2006, very full and incredibly complex! A slightly metallic, bitter note in the aftertaste - but this is by no means disturbing. On the contrary, it emphasizes the bitter nature of the rum, which should definitely be given a few minutes to develop fully and mellow out
Review by Lot-NAS
Overall a nice and balanced Diamond. Probably not the most complex one but this isn’t always a bad thing.
Review by Djehey
Rum to let breathe. The rancio is very present at the start, but not in the right sense of the word: aromas like old socks or damp mops. Once these inconveniences have evaporated, the aromas of prunes, old wood and leather become more pleasant, with good integration of the alcohol. However, there's still that whiff of dirty old age that lingers on the finish.

Well, that was good. Very drinkable Guyana, I could drink this all evening long 😍

NOSE: Tobacco, leather, crushed slate. Notes of molasses drift in the background. Dried plum, dried persimmon. Raisin. PALATE: Rounded. Oolong tea, tobacco, leather, sweet oak, raisin, date syrup, prunes, molasses, vanilla. Cocoa powder. FINISH: Caraway, black licorice, machine oil. Prunes and dates. Poppyseed filled pastries. Mussels. More dark chocolate. Finish is a bit short. OVERALL: This RDL is delicious stuff. Very well integrated wood notes. To my memory, I like this better than the RumClub 2006 REV, which was dominated by heavy roasted/charred notes. This feels more balanced and cohesive, comparitively. SCORE: 85/100
