Anyone who likes a nutty, dessert-leaning Spanish-style rum poured neat will find a lot here: marzipan, milk chocolate, nutmeg and burnt caramel, with a big cask-strength kick underneath. One taster was surprised by how little oak shows after 24 years. It reads as classic Nicaragua done full-proof — well balanced when it lands, though a couple of people found the alcohol not fully tucked in.

02.03.2024 Retasting at Whiskymessen.dk and stick to my score. ---------------------- A very nice release though I think the price is a bit off. Complex and really well balanced with nice ABV integration. I like the mix of fruit and nuts in the profile. There is a nice marzipan note in the profile ☺️

Accessible and pleasant nose. On the palate then really power, combined with a nice nuttiness and sweetness. Very good Nicaragua rum at cask strength.

Solid full proof Nicaragua. Surprisingly little wood after 24 years. Intense notes of nutmeg, milk chocolate and some caramel... But it doesn't reach the other bottling from 2000, still tasty.

I'm not a big fan of the Spanish style, but this one is quite convincing. It's quite well balanced between wood, spice and burnt caramel.

01–03-2025 RDL does not hit me every time. And sad to say that it hits me fewer and fewer times. Often to young and to high ABV. Had high expectations for this one. Age and ABV looking good. Have not tasted that much Nicaragua rum. Was slightly disappointed. ABV not that well integrated. A bit of ammonia in the aftertaste. But would like to try it again in a different setting than rum fair 😉
