Pour this neat and give it air — several tasters say it opens up and rounds out over time. It's a Hampden funk bomb: roasted pineapple, overripe banana, mango and plenty of glue and solvent, with a warm cedar note and a touch of cognac-cask sweetness. At 61.6% the alcohol reads remarkably well-integrated. Long, umami, almost salty finish that a few members say you could "almost chew."

... Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die"

A complex nose, fruity with cedar wood, tropical fruits and esters. But also dried fruits, prunes and wood glue. The aromas are immediately present on the palate, a bit chaotic with an olive side, spicy, but also umami, lots of umami, incense and leather. A very long finish on umami, roasted pineapple and a slightly salty side.

Very tasty, concentrated Hampden! Alcohol perfectly integrated and the 20y cask maturation is hardly noticeable. Delicious and intense after salted pineapple, mango vinegar, milk chocolate, lots of umami notes and simply extremely harmonious and balanced! Great stuff!

What a bomb. Wonderfully fruity... Mango, Anna's papaya, banana, a bit of wild strawberry and glue. Here you can nicely recognize the tropical aging again... Lovely, not a bit sharp on the nose. Slightly oily on the palate, now a hint of wood comes in, all nicely in harmony. An absolute top drop at an incredible price. Great to be part of this.

Awesome Hampden that offers everything you want. Some sweetness, some wood, some cognac cask. Great tropical aging at a great price-performance ratio. Tropical fruit basket with buttery consistency. In direct comparison to TRC 2001 <>H much darker and riper.

I had a first mixed impression of this bottle which seemed too woody to me. A second test with more aeration changes my appreciation. Here we have a rum with multiple smells and flavors whose profile evolves a lot over time. Quite typical of Hampden but with a warm and enveloping woodiness around a compote of very ripe fruits soaked in solvents. Very beautiful rum.

How crazy is that, what arrives on the nose! Overripe mango, papaya, dried dates, marzipan, gingerbread, sweet potato, I also imagine some beet. All very concentrated and harmonious, thanks to 18 years of tropical maturation. The finish in a cognac cask also fits very well here. On the palate, cake and spice mix, barrel, slightly tart, long finish. Many thanks to Rod for the sample!

A superb selection of Plantation by Cuvée des Addicts. On the nose, it's an olfactory slap in the face. Jamaican funk hits hard with notes of esters, solvents, nail polish and glue, but is quickly overtaken by a basket of ripe exotic fruits (banana, pineapple, mango, papaya, sour cherry, lime, orange) that embalm the nostrils. Empyreumatic (smoky) and meaty (meaty) notes follow, with a hint of spice and hints of umami, olive and wood. Subtle notes of marzipan add a touch of sweetness to this intense yet generous profile. The attack on the palate is succulent. Exotic fruit and citrus, olive, warm spices, wood and leather. As the tasting progresses, empyreumatic and smoked-meat notes make their return, along with a pleasant touch of saline and umami. Phenolic tannins and funk round off a very accomplished and structured Hampden, heterogeneous but in control of its subject. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish stretches endlessly between fruit, smoke, wood, salt, spice and phenolics, with a hint of caramel. The finish is almost chewy. A top-class Hampden, complete, balanced and delicious. The quality/price ratio of this cuvée was insane when it came out, so it's a pity it's a victim of its own success.

What a nose, the smell just fills up the room 😍 amazing value for money, very happy with this addition to my rum cabinet! Fruity ester explosion 💥 Edit: compared to RX16246 and RX15544 The nose is inviting, luscious. It has an extra layer to it, it’s sweeter (influence from the cognac barrel?), also a bit more dry in the cheeks (tannines, more influence from the wood?), with more dept and complexity.

What an awesome release. Once again Plantation shows that they can offer outstanding bottlings for affordable money. Hampden 2001 <>H with 18 years of tropical aging. All that for 149€. Absolutely brilliant piece. I see the Old Brothers HD 2001 just a tiny bit ahead, but very close.

Cologne/Bonner Rum Meeting: Slow finish. Super intense rum with lots of esters, glue and tropical fruits that run at a consistently high level from nose to finish. The finish feels like it lasts forever.

#4230 This is a great rum and than you Rodolphe for making it available 😊 The nose ven be picked up from a mile away, OK, maybe not a full mile, but it's easy to pick up and it just gets better while resting. A heavy very well balanced profile. Perfect ABV and wood integration. Fruity with some glue and medicinal notes. Medium sweet and oily palate and a very long finish. Draws wonderful slow moving curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some chocolate and marzipan.

What a crazy play of aromas on the nose! Overripe mango, papaya, dried dates, plus marzipan, gingerbread, sweet potato – and very subtly I even think I recognize a hint of beetroot. Everything feels dense, concentrated and at the same time surprisingly harmonious, surely thanks to the 18 years of tropical aging. The Cognac cask finish rounds it all off perfectly. On the palate there is a spice mix like from grandma's cake cupboard, accompanied by strong cask notes and a long, slightly bitter aftertaste. Thanks to saibotzar for this mega split!!!

A complex Jamaican with intense tropical fruit notes that immediately jump into the nose. Ripe pineapple, sweet banana, and esters dominate the aroma play. Spice notes provide depth and tension, while wood and vanilla hold back subtly in the background. Despite cask strength, the alcohol is well integrated, making the profile round and harmonious. An elegant, matured Hampden in a very successful bottling. Just a bit more punch on the finish for a better rating.

Oh wow what a great nose! A big aroma from Savanna but in Jamaica! Once again proof that the Cognac cask pairs perfectly with ester-rich rums to give a fruity and gourmand mix like Harlequin candy! The palate is quite faithful to the nose with a mix of fruits, Cleopatra glue (thus almond) and old leather. The alcohol very well integrated on the nose stings a bit on the palate but I'm sensitive beyond 55/60 so it won't bother fans 😉 What a success at a great price, thanks to the addicts and Plantation! Can't say the same for all bottlers...

Tasting a 5cl sample. 👃 Wow what an ester and fruity punch! Lots of roasted and overripe pineapples. But also passion fruit, overripe pig banana (turning into Haribo bananas), sour cherries and strawberry jam. Marzipan is present at times. A delicious salty variation of anchovies, tapenades and smoked bacon (bacon soufflés). The esters stand out with sumptuous notes of varnish, lacquers and essential oils. All supported by island spices and elegant wood (thanks to the Cognac cask). 😋 Another explosion of fruits and esters! Dominance of tropical fruits (pineapple ++, passion fruit, starfruit, lychee) but also some dried fruits (raisins, sour cherries and their pits). A dry and spicy bitterness that becomes salty (cured meats, green and black olives in jars). The esters remind me of smells of glue, paint and varnish in a house under renovation. A mouth completely in line with the nose. Complex, characteristic of the mark with some welcome subtleties. ⛳ Hot, dry, bitter but comforting. Also long, very long. The iconic Plantation finish in Cognac cask stands out in this finale; dried fruits, cherries, spices, vanilla, wood. Umami flavor well present. Between the salt of the brined olive and the sugar of the combawa. A bit of model glue to keep this long finish afloat. 💡 Excellent integration of the alcohol. Magnificent <>H 2001 to be quickly compared with the Hampden selected by Old Brothers.

Lovely Hampden. The nose is a fruit bomb with also some notes of olive, smoke and nuts. The fruit and olives come back for the taste along with umami and sourdough. The umami notes stay for the finish.

A magnificent selection! A bit tough at opening, it becomes very round with time, a Hampden that has a lot to offer and that breaks out of the "typical" Jamaican profile. The solvent side is well melted and gives way to tropical fruits and a very pleasant "frangipane" side. Super length
