Sipped neat, this is an experiment: Guyana Diamond rum finished in a German Riesling cask, and the wine cask really runs the show. Expect dry, tannic and herbal, with juniper-like spice, a touch of caramel and coconut, and a distinctly sour, "very different" wine edge. Several tasters called it a bold idea that's cleanly made but doesn't quite land — interesting more than lovable.

This rum received a Riesling finish and gets a pretty spicy character from it. I classify it as an experimental rum that represents a medium-good result (compared to the Merlot finish). In the mouth it is unbalanced, dry and bitter. Overall I am a big fan of this method by Ramero, where Guyana rum is aged in whisky and German wine barrels. I am very curious what will come next.

#6320 06/08.02.2026 My first visit to The Village in Nuremberg and it was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely attend again as there is more than enough rum going around. This one is not my favourit at all. It is like the barrel has taken over a bit too much. Still fruity with some caramel and wine notes.

Nose is very strange with lots of spices and something akin to heavy cheese. On the palate a pleasant profile with some sweetness dominated by notes from the wine cask and caramel. Definitely a special animal.

Surprisingly coherent single cask from Guyana with lots of coconut, crème brûlée and a slight wine touch. Overall a bit too thin and sour at the end for me, which makes sense with 4 years in a Riesling cask. Wouldn't blindly guess Guyana and rather lean towards Barbados.

Beim kurzen Sampletausch mit DomM probiert. Für mich ein gewagten Experiment mit diesem Riesling Weinfass. Es ist halt einfach mal was anderes, was zwar gut gemacht ist, aber nicht so wirklich meinen Geschmack trifft.

Trade fair tasting, so brief: Strong! Here the guys play out what they have in barrels. On the nose still many notes of chocolate and darker wood, then it gets very different on the palate. The sour notes of the Riesling barrel and a certain fuzziness come clearly through and you stay very dry. Nice thing!

Nose very perfumed, but nice on the palate with well-integrated alcohol. The Riesling finish is exciting and gives the whole thing its own note. Overall quite mediocre though. Label 'made in Germany' doesn't quite fit.
