Don't let the "12" fool you into expecting a deep sipper — this Venezuelan molasses rum reads sweet and soft, heavy on cream toffee, coconut and caramel. Several tasters find the alcohol pokes through more than the age suggests, and a few call it thin and "kind of alcoholic, sweet, vague." A couple genuinely like the smooth coconut nose; most land at pleasant but plain.

Discreet, mostly alcoholic nose. Round on the palate, with caramel and nutty notes. Very short length. Unfortunately, not a very interesting rum.

A soft, sweet rum with notes of coconut, vanilla, caramel, and toffee. It drinks easily and pleasingly, but for a twelve-year-old, it is quite one-dimensional in nose and taste. Those expecting more depth and complexity will be rather disappointed.

Well, I don't know what to say about this. At first you could just taste the alcohol. Over time, the sweet chocolatey taste came out. Nevertheless, the alcohol dominates. Definitely quite good with cola.

Like with the younger Carúpano, this rum just bursts with cream-caramel candy. Especially on the nose. On the palate similar, but paired with something bitter that reminds me of whole grain bread. Overall quite thin though.

The last rum from the Tastillery Advent calendar 2025. This one is not a highlight. Smells and tastes of caramel and butter. Both only subtle though. Plus a slight alcoholic sharpness. There are better ones.

Good rum in the molasses genre, but almost too sweet and aromatic - I was raised on West Indian agricultural produce... Fresh, cold, metallic fruity nose. Very greedy palate, very sweet, even too sweet, and light at 40dg. Tastes of coconut, gingerbread caramel.

Smells of vanilla and faintly of wood. Vanilla is the dominant taste, then comes coconut, a bit of caramel, roasted flavors and alcohol. An easy-drinking rum without shining, a bit flat in taste.

Uff, again rough one. Musty wood and rancid butter or margarine with butter aroma. A lot of alcoholic sensation all through out... At the end a sharp burn of sugar or sweetener. This one is really rough and I sincerely do not get why you need so many of those ..
