Sip this one neat with a splash of water — at 68.3% the water is genuinely mandatory. Expect coconut, caramel, vanilla and chocolate-coffee notes with a glue-y edge, oily on the tongue with a long finish. The twist: it drinks nothing like a dirty Fiji. Several tasters would guess Barbados, Guatemala or even Worthy Park blind. Good rum, just not the funky Fiji many expect.

Most helpful positive review
Surprisingly mild and oily for just under 69%. Aromatically, I would be blind to Barbados or Guatemala. But it's really tasty and feels like it goes on forever. Overall, however, it definitely has a much more Spanish feel and is hardly recognizable as a dirty Fiji.

Second tasting: nice and fruity on the nose, better than I remembered. Taste and finish, however, quite smoky (unchanged) Very light nose, very pleasing, no rough edges. Strongly alcoholic on the palate and a continuation of the nose, but with more barrel and roasted aromas. Toasty and unspectacular finish. Hmm, very atypical, alcoholic and not my taste, I miss the Fiji funk and fruitiness. Just about "good".

Had a few extra samples that I tried on Saturday 😊 The nose is a bit light and the ABV shi es through because the integration is lacking. A bit out of balance but not a bad rum. Needs to rest for a good while or the ABV will bite you.

Fiji tasting with Tasting DomM Compared to the other Fiji we tasted in the evening, this one didn't score quite as well. But still, it's drinkable, though there are much better bottlings and vintages from this country.

Trade fair tasting, so brief: Nose has chocolate, coffee and coconut. In the mouth very thick, somewhat oily and fruitier. Very balanced.

Loses the comparison with the Nobilis from the same vintage, overall a bit too one-sided in taste, that was similar to the Nobilis but somehow ne corner rounder.

In the nose, there are sweet tones, chocolate, coconut, coffee. On the palate, the higher ABV is noticeable, which doesn't bother me, although it could be better integrated. On the palate, coconut dominates with chocolate following, and overall it's a bit spicy, see integration above.

Surprisingly good, I had to check twice to make sure I poured myself the correct sample. Blind I would have guessed this as a Worthy Park. Water is mandatory.

"Thin" nose. Alcohol could be better integrated. Unfortunately little dirty on the tongue. Had already better from Fiji in the glass.

Had the rum in my Advent calendar. Even though it's not a typical Fiji rum (funky and dirty), the rum really turned out well. If you forget Fiji and think Barbados objectively, it's definitely very good. Taste is really nicely complex, woody, coconut notes with fruit notes but overall more on the spicy side.
