Anyone who already knows Monymusk and wants a cask-strength taste of it will find plenty here — the trouble is getting past the heat. The nose leads with fruit, menthol and a whiff of glue; the palate turns earthy with roasted wood, olive, tobacco and a little chocolate. Give it real time in the glass, because at 64.2% the alcohol runs hot and can bulldoze the rest.

Jamaica without Hampden tasting: super interesting rum, which unfortunately comes across very alcoholic on the nose (without time to breathe). Beyond that from the palate very complex with black tea, tobacco and olive.

Nose does not develop as many (stone) fruit notes versus the other 2010 EMBs I had to compare. With time in the glas the nose becomes more round but a alcoholic harshness persists unfortunately. Also not much fruitiness going on on the palate. Wood, roasted and choclate notes with some cappuccino. It is rather nice, but lacks complexity. Alcohol again a bit to prominent for a better score.

#6492 15.03.2026 Running some samples after a nice day out meeting up with a friend I have not seen in 15 years. A pretty OK bottling with nice fruit and light mint in the earthy notes. The palate is warm and has nice roasted wood, olive, chocolate and some anise. The finish is long and warm with roasted wood, olive, light salt and fruits. This rum needs to rest to really open up and settle properly.

EMB with great value for money... not the best I've tried but pretty good for the price. Delicious nose with lots of fruit and sweetness as well as menthol. Palate quite similar with rather weak alcohol integration.

At first the nose could still convince me, but the MM falls quite short on the palate. The alcohol is poorly integrated, dominates and covers the classic EMB aromas that are definitely present. A shame. The finish, on the other hand, pleases me.

Unfortunately, the EMB from Rum und Co didn't convince me at all. The alcohol isn't well integrated, but I'm already used to that from Monymusk. However, here the alcoholic notes partly overshadow the EMB profile. After a longer resting time, the fruity notes and menthol came through better, but there are so many better bottlings out there.
