Ruddyglow Park Long Pond Fine Jamaican Rum 1986
Sip this one slowly and neat — it's a quiet, shape-shifting old Long Pond that opens up over an hour in the glass. Expect green banana, dried apricot, honey and young-tasting wood, with an herbal, faintly medicinal edge and a touch of pencil-graphite that fooled a lot of tasters into guessing Guyana. Balanced and gentle for 51.5%, though some wished it hit harder.
- Green banana, honey
- Beautifully integrated
- Opens up slowly

How does Ruddyglow Park Long Pond Fine Jamaican Rum 1986 taste?
Aggregated from 42 community reviews.
Gentle, fruity old Long Pond that opens slowly Most found it finely balanced and fruity, with the wood far softer than 35 years suggests. The honest catch: a bitter, herbal streak some disliked, and a few called it too mild and low-intensity.

Calendrier de l'Avant RumX 2024, day 13. A fruity nose, but more dried fruit, in particular dried apricot. Light, youthful wood and a hint of bitter herb candy (Ricola). The palate is aromatic and fruity, still with dried apricot, a touch of sparkle and young, well-integrated wood. A touch of pencil lead (graphite), and the bitterness becomes increasingly prominent as the other aromas slowly dissipate. A rum with character, good length and balance.

RumX Advent Calendar Day 13: Here we have a Long Pond. You can recognize Jamaica directly on the nose. Esters, tropical fruits but also some wood is recognizable. On the palate, however, it is unfortunately too herbal for me and also too bitter on the finish.

The longer the rum was in the glass, the better the 35-year-old Long Pond became. The wood notes are there, but nowhere near as pronounced as the age would suggest. The rum has a very fine, pleasant fruity note, which becomes increasingly prominent over time.

Beautiful fruity nose: esters, white wine, honey Also convincing on the palate and without deviation from the nose, a little young wood is added. Medium-long finish, also very balanced and pleasant, lots of fruit and becoming drier. I had guessed Fiji because of the esters and had not ruled out Port Mourant. Completely surprisingly an old Long Pond! I like it very much!

Day 13 of the RumX advent calendar: A quiet drink that only gradually reveals its complex aromatic landscape and demands attention accordingly. If you give the rum this, you can discover finely balanced aromas with the freshness of green banana and avocado, which are accompanied by a pleasant honey sweetness and mild woodiness and end in a toasty, bacon finish that lingers for a long time, but is unfortunately a little weak-chested.

RumX Advent calendar 2024, door 13 Guyana Pot Still characteristics (bright graphite, licorice, aniseed, licorice) compete with Jamaica Loe Ester Banana on both the nose and the palate. So blend, Guyana or Jamaica. Even though the blend tip is inviting, it seems "varietal" to me. Guyana or Jamaica? I have no idea!

Really nice old Long Pond, which I would have blindly guessed to be an older worthy Park. But when you know it, it makes sense😃 Overripe banana, slightly smoky, bacony, nutty and herbal, plus nutmeg, a pleasant characteristic honey note and lots of yellow stone fruit. Very balanced and delicious!

Beautiful Long Pond! Flavor-wise it is a mix of Clarendon, Mount Gay and Long Pond 2000.

RX Calendar 24: I probably would have blindly guessed a continental PM. Herbs, olive, caramel, candied fruit, wax/plastic on the nose. Rather dry/astringent on the palate, but pleasant to drink thanks to the moderate ABV.

Tag 13 RumX Adventskalender Low Ester Jamaika wäre mein Tipp. Hier schöne Ananas Note vorallem in der Nase. Leichter Ester plus Holz und tropische Früchte am Gaumen. Top integrierter Alkohol.

RumX Calendar Day 13 Once again completely wrong. Somehow I had pencil in my mouth after the first sip, so I went for Guyana. Well, it was Long Pond after all. Conclusion: good, confusing rum.

RumX Kalender 2024 Day 13: Green banana on the nose, subtle, light sweetness, wood in the background. More wood on the palate, subtle alcohol, fruit, pepper, honey. Tip on Worthy Park, medium age (15-20yo?). Possibly even older, the integration is great. I like it very much!

RumX Advent calendar 2024 door number 13. In the nose fruity, some wood, something sweetish. Pleasantly sweet on the palate, then pencil shavings that transport you to Guyana. Pleasantly rounded off by the barrel influence. Quite an interesting drop!

First impression: I’m on board with Guyana so far… I think it’s about 3 hours in the glass now… I’m switching sides: team Fiji 🇫🇯 There’s this mineral side to it and because here’s also a Jamaican association. That’s what’s causing it… And now hoping that it’s not gonna bite me in the ass 🤞😂

Adventskalender 2024 Tür 13 Nase leichte Ester Noten, schön fruchtig und leicht floral?! Im Mund ebenfalls fruchtig, feine Süße, schöne Frucht und leichte Würze bei mittellangem Abgang. Lecker!

Blind tasting advent calendar 2024. The nose caramel and of course vanilla. According to my nose, no further lare tones can be localized (plastic cup and grass everywhere in the air). A wonderful softness on the palate.

I like it because it's very fatty. After that, it's not very complex. Tropical fruit and esters are the main flavors. Tasted blind, I thought it was a long pond with a fairly low mark at 50°. But I was nowhere near the age count... Probably continental, which explains the roundness.

A very interesting rum, which changes a lot in the glass. Lots of herbs and esters at the beginning, with more and more wood, spice and sweetness over time. Low ester Jamaica on the nose, more Guyana on the palate. Possibly Low Ester Fiji? I'm not sure. Very tasty in any case. Alcohol 50% upwards. Continental storage. I like it very much, as the finish is nice and woody and super long. Edit: I would never have thought of Long Pond and the old age. Very nice. Great rum.

RumX Advent 2024-13 Oh this is difficult Nose: banana, spicy, woody, slightly biscuity Mouth: quite spicy, herbal. Some wood and very creamy. I can't find any more fruit. Perhaps a subtle ester. I can't really classify it. I'm guessing a rather spicy Jamaican. Clarendon or Long Pond. Or a Chairman's. They are quite versatile.
