Infinity Spirits South Pacific The Royal Cane Cask Company Fiji SPD 2004

If you like your Fiji atypical, this one's for you. An 18-year pot-still cask strength that skips the usual glue-and-fruit signature and leans milk chocolate, roasted wood and a "burnt" edge, with the classic Fiji mocha and rubber only faintly there. Several tasters compare it to a Foursquare, calling it Spanish-style and a touch tame. Needs air before the alcohol settles.

#4125 This is a nice and warm rum with a spicy touch. It needs to rest for a good while before you give it a go or the alcohol will bite. Lightly fruity with a lot of roasted wood. Some may even use the word burnt 😊 Nice warm and very long finish. Draws slow moving thick curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some chocolate and faint leather notes.

Getestet gegen RX 15398. Gegen diesen hat er das Rennen gemacht, aber leider konnte er mich trotzdem nicht richtig übrrzeugen. Für mich fehlt da das typische von Fiji. Im Abgang finde ich ihn irgendwie zu säuerlich.

It's getting better and better! If the El Salvador from Royal Cane has just cut a fine figure, the Fiji goes one better! Screw the fact that it has nothing of a Fiji, it's nice and strong and just tastes good. (Although I have to admit that, unlike the El Salvador, it would be better suited to a winter evening).

Delicious Fiji single cask but somehow a little too "Spanish" and well-behaved. Reminiscent of foursquare, as Johannes said, but still has the characteristic mocha and burnt rubber tones of Fiji. Overall, I find it lacking in complexity, but the alcohol is very well integrated.

Typical Fiji of the unusual 2004 vintage. Strange vintage in the Spanish style, going in the direction of Foursquare. No typical Fiji notes present.

Cross-tasting with seven bottlings from Royal Cane. Ohh... this one takes the lead today. It has something in common with the 17-year-old Foursquare, but with the typical Fiji notes. Overall, however, none of the bottlings convinced me.

This Royal Cane is also an absolute top rum. Like the others, it tastes slightly chocolaty, but just right, not too much and not too sweet. Very, very tasty rum. I can only recommend it :)

Ungewöhnlicher Fiji mit Column Charakterzügen – aber eigentlich ganz lecker. Schmeckt, aber bei weitem nicht nach 200 Tacken 😂

Aged rum

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 16,000 Rums

Aged rum is where the spirit earns its complexity. In a tropical warehouse a barrel loses 6 to 10 percent of its contents to evaporation every year, which is why an 8-year Caribbean rum can taste deeper than a 20-year Scotch. This page gathers every rum on RumX that has spent real time in wood, with community ratings to separate the genuinely mature from the merely dark.
