Made for a ti punch, and that's where several tasters say it shines. This white agricole leans more fruity than most — mandarin, orange and grapefruit over fresh, fibrous cane — with flowers and a peppery, grassy kick underneath. At 55% the attack stays surprisingly soft, but the palate turns earthy and bitter, with citrus fighting the vegetal, cereal side. Complex for a blanc, not the easiest.

#4559 19.01.2024 Got a set of samples from a former colleague in Sweden and today I'll give them a go. My tastebuds are still hyper sensitive, which can be both good and bad. The last one before a short break in the tasting. This one has slightly less fruit to it than the previous one. The floral note is really nice in the profile. The palate is medium dry and and fresh with a light tea note. The finish is medium long and has light citrus to it. The empty glass has a light peppery note i can't put my finger on.

A special cuvée of white agricole rum resting on fruity notes on the nose (orange) to which fresh and fibrous sugarcane is added, floral notes and some background spices that enhance the nose. The attack on the palate is smooth despite the 55%. The citrus faces the vegetal and cereal notes in an intense conflict on the palate. Once again, the subtle spicy notes take advantage of the chaos to assert their presence. We have a well-rounded and elaborate rum. The finish, quite long but without surprise, lingers on the conflict in the mouth, which does not change a bit. A very expressive white rum, somewhat unstable and conflicted with itself and its aromas, but which knows how to get everyone to agree on its undeniable quality.

I was out of white rum, here’s a candidate :) The nose is quite charming, more fruity than the average agricole white with mandarin and banana giving it a fatty side. The palate is different with bitterness and earthy/cereal notes. The pepper is also very present. Complex for a white but not the most accessible.

Little weekend tasting with my buddy Mika! The theme for the evening: HSE 🔥 We start with a white that clearly deserves some attention: HSE Blanc – Cuvée Christian de Montaguère – 55% A limited edition of 3,000 bottles, created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Christian de Montaguère shop. Bottled in October 2022, this cuvée is special because it’s a blend of three vintages: 2019, 2020, and 2021, with extended maturation in stainless steel tanks. And what a nose! This is clearly an agricole white that focuses more on elegance and aromatic complexity than on showing off power. The ripe cane is definitely there, but quickly gives way to a very seductive profile of grapefruit and white flowers. It’s rich, floral, smooth… with especially that floral side literally exploding on the nose. 🌸 Despite the 55%, the whole thing remains perfectly approachable and really makes you want to take your time. For me, it’s clearly a tasting white, much more than just a simple white to throw in a Ti’ Punch. A very nice discovery that I really liked! And the good news? There’s already one quietly resting in the cellar! 🔥

Magnificent agricole rum for this anniversary edition, full of delicious flavors, ripe cane mixed with citrus grapefruit, lemon,.., with a rich and fatty texture leaving a beautiful persistence on the palate with pepper and vegetal notes.
